Green enjoys discovering how kids can grow outdoors through hands-on, experiential learning. Studies show outdoor learning's benefits include reducing stress, improving moods, boosting concentration, and increasing engagement at school.
“We have this great facility and great capacity,” she said of Camp Newaygo’s natural setting and unique ecosystems, including the rare sphagnum bog traversed by the Wetland Trail and its 104 wooded acres on the shores of Pickerel Lake.
Green has been with Camp Newaygo since spring. The DeKalb, Ill., native and Luther College graduate previously worked with The Fresh Air Fund, based in New York, and with camps and outdoor education centers operated by The YMCA and the Boys & Girls Clubs of America.
