May 2022

The beginning of May marked a special moment where we get to nationally celebrate all of the very important work public servants do for our community.
Public Service Recognition Week (May 1-7) is a national observance that honors people who serve our nation as federal, state, county, and local government workers.
First and foremost, I want to recognize my amazing staff for their resilience and devotion to our Orange County community. We have had to navigate through hard times recently and their dedication to our customers remains strong. I admire and thank them all for their service. Please join me in thanking them the next time you do business with us.
Secondly, as a public servant myself, I want to thank you, our Orange County residents, for giving me the opportunity and trust to lead this office and represent our county state-wide.
In this edition of The Slice...

To help spread awareness on one of our lesser-known services, I took some time to speak to Jessica LaBelle, Operations Support Coordinator in our Civil Division to speak about Vulnerable Adult Injunctions, the process, and how we can help.
Legal Matters Webinar Recording

On April 28, my office hosted a free Legal Matters webinar on "Understanding the Foreclosure Purchasing Process".

This educational webinar helped shed some light on foreclosure purchasing, addressed some common concerns, and informed the public as well as investors on how to navigate this process.

I want to extend my gratitude to our presenters, Attorney Don H. Nguyen, Judge Reginald K. Whitehead, and Deputy Clerk Karen Brodie from my office for providing this valuable information.

DIY Florida
I'm happy to share a great new FREE resource for those representing themselves in court called DIY Florida.
DIY (Do-It-Yourself) Florida is a free-to-use interactive program to complete official court forms.

Built within the Florida Courts E-Filing Portal, DIY Florida uses interview-style questions to lead you through the steps and prepare your forms. Once prepared, you can use the E-Filing Portal to electronically file your completed forms with your Clerk’s office. Required filing, service, and convenience fees may apply.
Which forms are currently available?

More than 20 forms are currently available on the DIY Florida platform in 5 areas:
  • Landlord-Tenant Cases
  • Small Claims
  • Domestic Violence
  • Simplified Dissolution
  • Domestic Relations
Visit MyFLCourtAccess.com/Authority/DIY to learn how DIY Florida can help you prepare your forms.
