Now that the two NATAB-accredited pilot project ATM® Teacher training programs are completed, we can reflect on the lessons learned from them. We are reaching out to you as colleagues with a sincere interest in the future in the Feldenkrais Method® of somatic education for your thoughts and ideas that have been stimulated by this information. 

Discussions are underway with NATAB and the FGNA Board of Directors, as well as at the international level, about whether to support having ATM Teacher training programs and the best ways to implement them. 

As part of the first step, NATAB is:

Sharing “what was learned” through two Zoom Cafés for FGNA members and certified teachers, and

Distributing a survey to hear your views, related to ATM Teacher training programs. The survey link will be sent by email after the first Café.

In his lifetime, Moshe Feldenkrais spoke and wrote extensively about the importance of breath.  The fact that we breathe differently in various situations, like seeing red lights of a police car or falling in love, and he emphasized that there is not one “right” way to breathe.

FGNA Board works to recognize the needs of the membership, certified practitioners only and trainees as they work to bring the Feldenkrais Method® of learning into their communities across North America. We understand that this has been a journey to train in this amazing work. We each have faced the difficulty of moving from the comfort of the training room and our mat to the office where we greet clients and the room or internet where we teach Awareness Through Movement® classes.

We have been working to create a collection of Zoom Café’s to provide different business skills for all level of practitioners. Our most recent café was on how to utilize social media to promote your individual practice to meet a larger audience. If you were unable to attend, the video will be available for future viewing at your leisure.

As many of you know, Erik LaSeur, Fariya Doc, and Nancy Haller will be leaving the FGNA Board shortly, after nine years of truly dedicated service.  

Our FGNA Board of Directors needs to fill not only their seats on the Board, but two other open seats. We also have some additional much needed volunteer positions. Without a constellation of volunteers, individuals on the Board and committees are spread very thin. Your help and expertise is needed.  The FGNA Board needs your support!

As a Director you will work with other Directors to ensure the stewardship for the continued legacy of The Feldenkrais Method® of somatic education. Directors at-large will meet regularly once a month for two hours, typically the last Monday of each month, with other Board members and chair a portfolio of one or more volunteer member committees. 

Please inform participants in events that you teach that attendance at the event does not convey the right to use FGNA service marks, offer Functional Integration® lessons, Awareness Through Movement® lessons, or other services related to the practice of the Feldenkrais Method of somatic education.  

Only individuals who have received authorization from FGNA are allowed to use FGNA service marks, offer Functional Integration® lessons, Awareness Through Movement® lessons, or other services related to the practice of the Feldenkrais Method of somatic education.
