Last year, Josh Good left the anchor desk at Quincy Broadcasting's NBC affiliate WPTA-TV (Channel 21.2, Fort Wayne) "Fort Wayne's NBC". Mr. Good will soon join Bayou City Broadcasting's KADN-TV/KLAF-TV in the Lafayette, Louisiana market, as their next News Director.

Former WISH-TV (Channel 8, Indianapolis) news director Patti McGettigan takes medical retirement from WHBQ-TV in Memphis, Tennessee, where she served as news director. If you want her e-mail address to send her a note, please let me know.

December 23: In 2010, Indianapolis broadcast engineer Murray G. Smith dies. Age 88.
December 24: In 1988, 89.3fm in Richmond signs on as WVXR. Today, it's WKRT.
December 25: In 2002, WZOM (105.7fm, Defiance) flipped formats from Oldies to Country.
December 26: In 2000, WZTR (98.9fm, now licensed to Prospect, Kentucky) flipped formats from Modern AC to CHR.
December 27: In 1988, Channel 63 in Indianapolis signs on as WIIB. Today, it's WIPX-TV. In 2007, N-T/WIBC moves from AM to FM, after seven decades at 1070am. WIBC-FM (93.1fm, Indianapolis) debuted.
December 29: In 2003, what was then WSHI (106.3fm, Columbia City) flipped format from Standards to AC ("Sunny 106").

44News, (WEVV, the FOX/CBS affiliate in Evansville, IN) has an immediate opening for a News Director to lead the news department. We are looking for someone with outstanding leadership skills who thrives on teaching, coaching and developing a strong and positive newsroom environment.
The News Director will oversee a department that generates 41 hours per week of on-air content in the Evansville market’s CBS and FOX stations with a focus on family and the community. Evansville is a great place to live and work. We are looking for someone to oversee a department that produces professional and engaging content that reflects that culture in a way that appeals to our own families and communities. The News Director will perform the following duties:
- Recruit, interview and hire MMJs and production staff
- Institute training systems for new employees
- Foster a positive, motivational and professional atmosphere throughout the department
- Make decisions on stories, duties and scheduling of departmental employees
- Establish general duties and schedules for all news department employees
- Exercise editorial and production control of newscast content
- Establish and enforce rules and procedures within the department
- Perform any and all other tasks perceived, assigned, and/or required that contribute to the achievement of departmental and station goals
Education and Experience: College degree is required. Major in journalism, broadcasting, communications, or another related field is preferred. Minimum 4 years' experience in TV news with at least two years in a Producer or other leadership role.

The successful candidate should engage viewers through traditional sports coverage. However, reading highlights is only a portion of this job. Good story telling and solid photography skills are also a must.

The successful candidate will be familiar with weather terminology and have the ability to put together and deliver a clear, understandable, and accurate weather forecast. That person will also be able to act as a general assignment reporter/MMJ which includes the ability to take complex issues and situations and explain them in clear, concise, and accurate story form; enterprise stories; cultivate sources; and communicate effectively in both the spoken and written word.
Familiarity with Edius or a similar editing software, Inception or similar newsroom computer system, and Baron or a similar newsroom weather system is necessary. The ability to shoot and edit video is also a must.

Description: We are looking for a Full-Time Traffic Director to manage the daily preparation and maintenance of on-air logs.
Responsibilities will include:
• Daily use of Natural Log software to schedule inventory in order to maximize station revenue on high demand stations in sell out situations
• Data and order entry
• Scheduling ad copy
• Posting of daily commercial logs
• Preparation and maintenance of reports
• Weekly affidavit processing of network and syndicated programming
Competency:
