Introducing Tamid of Hebrew College: Your Home for Adult Jewish Learning
“Our sacred mission includes helping Jews find a home at Hebrew College. What better way to enrich your continual process of growth and learning than through Tamid of Hebrew College: Your home for Jewish adult learning!” — Hebrew College Vice President Dr. Susie Tanchel.
The Hebrew word “Tamid”, which can be translated as “continuous” or “eternal”, is an apt descriptor for Hebrew College’s adult learning programs — providing lifelong learning that links us to our past, contextualizes our present, and connects us to the future. “We don’t just help develop the minds of our future rabbis and Jewish educators... but also their hearts, bodies, and souls," says Tanchel. Hebrew College brings that same commitment to our adult learners through Tamid, offering diverse opportunities and experiences to deepen and enrich your whole self and your connection to Judaism.

I’ve had a fascination with rain since I first learned the middle paragraph of the Shema, which is found in this week’s parsha, Parashat Eikev1. The way rain works, according to these verses, is simple: it is a blessing from God, and comes when the people observe God’s commandments. Failure to observe the commandments leads to drought, a lack of food, and concludes with eviction from the land. I imagine the Israelites, who only knew desert life and miraculous food through manna, this is a significant and potentially terrifying change...
