WHAT TO EXPECT
On Monday, September 9, parents will receive an email from Jen LaMaster, Assistant Principal. This email will contain instructions for how to log on to the online parent-teacher conference scheduler as well as a copy of your child’s schedule.
Some Important Notes:
- Parents will be allowed to log on and schedule conferences anytime up until Friday, October 4 at 12:00 p.m. Conference registration will close on that date.
- Parents are encouraged to schedule conference times with as many teachers as they wish.
- If you arrive without a scheduled appointment with a particular teacher, there may be an opportunity for walk-up conferences, depending on that teacher’s timing of scheduled appointments. Teachers available for walk-up conferences will have a green table tent to indicate free time.
- We always welcome communication with our families. If you are unable to attend this event or cannot find a time which works with your schedule, please feel free to contact a teacher directly. online ticket sales for "The fault in our stars"In 2018, Brebeuf received generous permission from Indianapolis resident and best-selling author, John Green, to adapt his wildly popular and successful novel, "THE FAULT IN OUR STARS", into a play. Our Theatre Director, Mr. Tobin Strader, and four talented members of the class of 2019 worked together on this first-ever adaptation. Brebeuf Jesuit Theatre is thrilled to present the world-premiere of this funny and heart-wrenching story, about appreciating the fragility of life and love.

Thank you to the Mothers Association Freshman Class Liaisons and the many volunteers who worked so hard to put together a fantastic Freshman Family Tailgate last Friday in the all new BRAVE ZONE!
Among the great pictures here, is freshman Alice O'Brien with her mom Heather (Countryman) O'Brien, class of 1991, wearing the jersey of her uncle Nick Countryman, a class of 1996 alum!

Loves About Brebeuf
I love the teachers and staff here at Brebeuf. I know that if I see a teacher I’ve had in the hallway, I can always expect a smile and a warm greeting. I also love how breaks and PRTs give students the freedom to explore their interests and talk to teachers or work on homework.
Future Plans
I’m not certain where I want to go to college yet, but I plan on studying engineering and business.
Teams & Co-Curriculars
Tennis
Volleyball
Investment Club
Student Council Class President
LLS Students of the Year Leadership Team
Robotics Club President
STA Youth Council
Random Fact(s)
I have flown an airplane.
I haven’t eaten candy or dessert in the past 8 months.
What are you most looking forward to this year?
I’m looking forward to making the most of the time I have left with my classmates and participating in as many activities as I can. I also want to use my last year to make as much of an impact on Brebeuf as I can as class president.
Where would you travel if time and money weren’t an issue?
I would travel to the moon. It would be amazing to be somewhere that only 12 people have been and jumping around on the moon with the earth in the sky would be awesome.
What is your silliest or most irrational fear?
Semi-trucks. I’ve seen a lot of videos of trucks tipping over, so I make sure to avoid them and speed by them on the highway.
What is something you have learned in the last week?
I’ve learned about budgeting with spreadsheets and how the tax bracket works in my personal finance and entrepreneurship class.
What are some small things that make your day better?
Spending time with my friends and smiling and laughing makes my day 100x better.
What is your current favorite show or series on TV, Netflix, etc?
I don’t watch Netflix or TV shows, but I like to watch sports.
Rank the following types of scissors from #1-#5, with #1 being the best type of scissors: sewing scissors, grooming scissors, crafting scissors, bandage scissors, and gardening scissors.
#1 - Sewing Scissors
#2 - Crafting Scissors
#3 - Bandage Scissors
#4 - Grooming Scissors
#5 - Gardening Scissors
What advice do you have for the new Braves in the Class of 2023?
Branch out and don’t be afraid to try new things. Make the most of your time at Brebeuf, because it flies by!

HELP US REACH OUR philanthropy week GOAL TOMORROWAll week long we have been highlighting philanthropy’s important role at Brebeuf Jesuit and tomorrow we celebrate the greatest day of Philanthropy Week, Giving Day—the day to make your gift to Brebeuf Jesuit!
Tomorrow, we celebrate two of the core elements that are critical to our learning community – our rich tradition of educating men and women for others and the loyal, generous donors who bring that tradition to life.
For 57 years, Brebeuf Jesuit has provided the opportunity for a formative, Jesuit education to the Indianapolis community. This opportunity is made possible only by the support of our community through The Brebeuf Fund. The Brebeuf Fund provides our faculty and staff with the necessary resources to foster the growth and success of current and future Brebeuf students–through exceptional academics, spiritual growth opportunities, financial aid scholarships, and so much more.
Help us reach our goal of 200 donors celebrating Giving Day by making your gift to The Brebeuf Fund! Gifts received now until September 7 will be counted towards our #BrebeufGives Philanthropy Week totals.
You can also celebrate Giving Day by telling the world what the Brebeuf Jesuit community has given to you on social media with #BrebeufGives and challenging three community members to do the same!

spanish language and cultural exchange information The Brebeuf Jesuit community has enjoyed hosting eight young women from the CASP school in Barcelona, Spain! We are grateful to our students and families who have taken students into their homes for this program.
As we move forward with making our language exchange and cultural immersion programs better and better, we will be putting our trip to Spain on pause for this school year; therefore, there will not be a Brebeuf-led exchange trip to Barcelona in Spring 2020. This will allow us the opportunity to explore all of our options to further enrich the program. We hope in doing so, we can meet our goals of full Spanish language immersion, affordability, and a rich experience with the uniqueness of Spanish culture.
Those interested are invited to consider a Spanish exchange experience in the spring of 2021. With any questions, please contact Spanish teacher Kayla Grimes at kgrimes@brebeuf.org.

psat information The PSAT, or Preliminary Scholarship Aptitude Test, is one of the first official steps on the road to college. It serves as an introduction to the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) that is required for most college applications. All sophomore and junior students at Brebeuf are automatically registered to take the PSAT exam. The State of Indiana covers the cost of the test for all sophomore and junior students, therefore your student will not be charged to take the exam.
When is the PSAT?
Wednesday, October 16, 2019. Students must be in their testing rooms no later than 8:00 a.m. They must bring several #2 pencils (NO MECHANICAL PENCILS), and a calculator. Cell phones and other electronic devices will not be permitted in the testing rooms, nor will any food or drink. Testing will be completed at approximately 11:45 a.m. (1:30 p.m. if approved for extended time). The exam room assignments will be posted throughout the school building in early October.

SEPTEMBER BREBEUF DRIVE Inspired by her trip to Dayspring earlier this semester, Payton Seaman '21 wanted to take the lead on the first #BrebeufDrive of the year and do a collection to benefit a place that make an impact on her.
"Earlier this semester I went and volunteered at Dayspring, a shelter for those in need of help, both financially and physically. Going there was one of the most moving things I have ever experienced. I often don’t realize that people just like us are struggling to even find a place to sleep. I learned about different stories and learned about how and why people were at this shelter. After going to Dayspring and learning about people’s stories, I learned that not all stereotypes are true about children living in poverty. I learned that children who are born into poverty are not doomed to stay at poverty level if they are fortunate enough to have a good education, good mentors, motivation and determination, and the basic living needs such as food, shelter, and water."
- Payton Seaman '21
How You Can Help
The September #BrebeufDrive will be collecting: Paper towels, toilet paper, napkins and Clorox wipes. Collection bins will be placed in the lobbies throughout the month of September.
Prefer to make an online donation? Please visit: brebeuf.org/dayspringdonation
