Radford University is proud to sponsor the Comfort Station at Steppin’ Out 2025, taking place on Friday, Aug. 1 and Saturday, Aug. 2, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. each day in downtown Blacksburg.
This free community festival features live music, street food from local restaurants and over 250 artisans and vendors.

Stop by Radford University’s Comfort Station, located on Jackson Street, to cool off with shaded seating, complimentary water and misting fans. It’s the perfect place to take a break and recharge during the festivities.

Faculty Accessibility Bootcamp coming on Aug. 8 |
|
|
This six-hour bootcamp will give faculty the nuts and bolts of digital and classroom accessibility and the opportunity to work with people who can assist you. The workshop will provide you with the tools and support to make your courses accessible to all.
The morning will be filled with instruction, and the afternoon will be workshop time to work on your courses with assistance available from CITL, Academic Technologies, CAS and University Libraries.
Bring a laptop and a few things to work on – syllabi, assessments, PowerPoint slides, articles, scanned book chapters, frequently used library resources, etc.
Lunch will be provided by CITL.
Please note: This bootcamp is limited to the first 25 registrants.

Radford University receives Dorothy Gillespie sculptures |
|
|
On July 15, the Radford University Art Museum received several Dorothy Gillespie sculptures to restore and eventually install around Radford’s campus.
Gillespie, a Roanoke native, studied art at Radford University and became renowned for her ribbon-like sculptures adorning public places. The 20 art pieces are a gift from the Dorothy Gillespie Foundation and her son, Gary Israel.

Emburse (Chrome River) training opportunities |

To support the university community with viable resources, the Radford University Office of Accounting Services will offer Emburse (Chrome River) Travel Training and Food and Beverage Policy Training via Zoom in August.
The August training sessions will be:

- Emburse (Chrome River) Travel Training — Tuesday, Aug. 5, at 10 a.m.
- Food and Beverage Policy Training — Tuesday, Aug. 12, at 10 a.m.

To attend a session, email travel@radford.edu with the subject line “Training.” In the body of the email, indicate if you would like to attend the Emburse (Chrome River) Travel Training session or the Food and Beverage Policy Training. You may also indicate in the email that you would like to attend both sessions.
Each Zoom session is limited to 20 participants. Once your email request is approved, you will receive a link to attend the requested session.

Join us for the Radford Art Show and Reception |

The entire Highlander community is invited to the Radford Art Show Reception on Friday, July 25, from 5-7 p.m. at the Tyler Gallery, 214 Tyler Ave. in Radford (next to BT’s). In addition to great art and interesting people, there will be plenty of refreshments. The exhibition, which runs from July 23 through Aug. 9, features work from talented artists around the region.

The event and exhibition are free, open to everyone and part of the Mary Draper Ingles Festival taking place from July 25-27.

Radford University and SCHEV Partner to make Constructive Dialogue Institute’s “Perspectives” modules available |
|
|
These modules are aimed at building skills for engaging in civil discourse and collaboration across differences, including political differences.
The skills learned in these six modules can be applied in various settings, including classes, clubs, residence hall floors and department meetings. The modules are available for free to anyone with a Radford University email address.
