College of Business Administration Dedicated to UNO Benefactor Bernstein

A dedication ceremony was held Tuesday, April 9 to officially commemorate the naming of the Henry Bernstein College of Business Administration. Bernstein is a former adjunct professor and longtime UNO benefactor Henry Bernstein. His generous donations have helped elevate the college and have paved the way for generations of students to receive a top-notch business education. The dedication ceremony took place in Kirschman Hall and celebrated Mr. Bernstein’s decades of generous support for the college and the University.

Lt. Gov. Billy Nungesser visited last month to spend some time with President Kathy Johnson and leaders from our College of Business Administration. Plans for the new HRT building were discussed as were possible partnerships with our Kabacoff School of Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Administration, which produces many of the state’s hospitality leaders. 

UNO Hotel, Restaurant & Tourism Management student Demi Robinette started baking during the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, she's taking what she's learning in her HRT courses to take her business to the next level.

Economists, realtors and others gathered Tuesday (April 9) at the University of New Orleans to hear industry forecasts and to get insight from a Department of Insurance official as access to affordable insurance remains a problem.

On Thursday, April 11, Ali Bustamante, director of the Division of Business and Economic Research, was quoted in the New Orleans Advocate story “Early Childcare in Jefferson Parish is ‘Broken.’ Can Businesses Help Fix It?"

Joey Laine '05 Hired as Seattle Seahawks New VP of Football Administration

 The Seattle Seahawks announced the hiring of Joey Laine as their new vice president of football administration, replacing Matt Thomas after 11 seasons in the role with the team.

Christian Griffiths '98 named LDEQ Undersecretary

On March 28, 2024, Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality (LDEQ) Secretary Aurelia S. Giacometto announced that Christian T. Griffiths has been named LDEQ’s Undersecretary of the Office of Management and Finance. 

Jim Tucker '86 Named to Board of Louisiana Policy Institute for Children

The Louisiana Policy Institute for Children (LPIC) recently announced the addition of Kristen Brown, James “Jim” Tucker, and John Diez to its Board of Directors.
