LMC Leads Provost Teaching and Learning Initiatives in AI Literacy in Writing Courses and Writing Pedagogy |
The Center for Teaching and Learning announced the nine inaugural Provost Teaching and Learning Initiatives, which include two led by faculty and staff in the School of Literature, Media, and Communication. Andy Frazee and Dori Coblentz will lead "Integrating AI Literacy into GT Writing and Communication Courses," and Melissa Ianetta and Caitlin Kelly will lead "TechWrites: Developing Writing Pedagogy Across Campus to Enhance the Undergraduate Experience."

Many women faculty, staff, and students in the Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts are among the inaugural honorees to be recognized in the Pathway of Progress installation, which celebrates the history and voices of women at Tech. The installation opening is planned for March 2025.

Georgia Tech Employee Engagement Survey Extended Through Oct. 11 |
The Gallup Q12 Employee Engagement Survey for Georgia Tech employees has been extended through Friday, Oct. 11. Please check your email for an invitation from Gallup, which was sent to all faculty and staff. The survey takes no more than 10 minutes to complete. Employees will be asked their opinions on areas related to workplace satisfaction, belonging, and communication. All responses will remain confidential.

Christopher Lawton (History and Sociology) presented "Writing the Lives of Enslaved Georgians: Reckoning with the Past through Student-Authored Public History" at the Digital Public History in a Divided World conference at Queens University Belfast. He highlighted his ongoing work with Georgia Tech students, who contributed approximately 70 digital biographies of enslaved individuals in Georgia between Fall 2023 and Summer 2024.

Navigating Autism in Communities of Color, a film by John Thornton (Literature, Media, and Communication) and Jennifer Singh (History and Sociology), recently screened at the prestigious Black August Film Festival in California and Champion Film Salon International Film Fest in Texas. The film was also selected to screen at the acclaimed Black Film Festival Atlanta on Oct. 24. The film will be featured in the Georgia Tech Global Media Festival in Spring 2025.

Chris Ippolito (Modern Languages) recently gave a talk on playwright Walid Mouawad’s work at the University of Lorraine in France. He also reviewed a book on Flaubert and philosophy for the journal Romantisme - Revue du dix-neuvième siècle.

Tibor Besedes (Economics) delivered the Peter Neary plenary presentation, named after a leading trade economist, to close the 2024 European Trade Study Group conference in Athens, Greece. He presented his paper "Sanctions and the Death of Trade" to an audience of approximately 300 attendees.

Join us for an in-depth, nonpartisan conversation on America’s role in the world and the foreign policy issues at stake in the 2024 election, including sustainability, artificial intelligence, the future of work, and trade. Panelists with distinguished careers in government, business, and academia will discuss the tradeoffs presented by different policy options both locally and globally and provide context on the international issues, choices, and challenges facing the next president.
