Dear UACS families,


We are now entering our second week of UACS Cyber Summer Camps & PYN Internships, and we are so excited to start hearing from our programs about how things are going! Stay tuned for more updates and highlights as the summer unfolds. If you are still hoping to get involved this summer, enrollment for UACS Cyber Summer Camps will continue on a rolling basis. You can find links to the enrollment applications for each UACS site in this newsletter!

But it's not too late, enrollment is still open! Virtual activities will include reading & math instruction with certified teachers, social & emotional learning, family events, physcial activity & sports, art, music, dance, science, cooking, drama, & more! Stay tuned for updates!

City-Wide Updates

Philadelphia has now entered a modified, restricted green phase of reopening. To protect people's health and ensure the city can reopen with care, Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney and Public Health Commissioner Dr. Tom Farley signed an executive order on June 26th requiring people to wear masks in public. Penn Updates

Penn has announced plans to remove the statue of George Whitefield, a known advocate of slavery in the early twentieth century, from campus, and will form a working group to study campus names and iconography. To read more, click here.


On June 30th, the African-American Resource Center (AARC) at Penn partnered with the Netter Center to host "When the Marches End: Are We For Real This Time?" a virtual panel discussion responding to the civil unrest and protesting of racism and social injustice that's taken place across the country in recent weeks. School District of Philadelphia Updates

Want to stay updated on the latest news from the SDP? Superintendent Dr. Hite will be going live on the SDP Facebook page every Wednesday at 3pm to deliver relevant and important information. Each session will be recorded and available to view later. To follow the SDP on Facebook, access the FB Live feeds on Wednesdays, and see past recordings from Dr. Hite, click below.

WorkReady and Career Exposure Internships
Attention rising 7th-12th graders! 
We know many enrolled interns are still working on submitting all the necessary paperwork to PYN. If you have already completed an online application and have questions or need support with the next steps of the enrollment process, please email us at netter-pyn@sas.upenn.edu

Students signed up for our High School WorkReady Programs can also visit open office hours with Mr. Joe for support. Office hours will be held daily from 3-5pm.
