Friends,

It’s been a difficult March here at Autism Tennessee.

On Tuesday, March 3, 2020, a tornado ripped through East Nashville and caused significant structural damage to our building. As a result, our staff are working from a temporary location. Our building housed more than our staff offices, it was also the home to various programs and services that serve the autism community here in Middle TN.

In the midst of the creating a new normal after the tornado, we have found ourselves in the chaotic public health pandemic. We knew the tornado would bring financial difficulty and were looking towards our spring fundraiser, Pieces of Hope, to raise necessary operating funds. Given the rapidly changing pandemic situation, and with the health and safety of our staff, volunteers and donors in mind, we have made the difficult decision to postpone Pieces of Hope for the foreseeable future.

In the middle of these crises, our work does not stop. We have been actively working to keep our HELPline running, providing a crucial lifeline and wealth of resources for autism families affects by the tornado and coronavirus. For an individual on the autism spectrum, a routine is a crucial piece of their wellbeing. We have been working to gather supplies and resources to ensure our members and their families receive as little interruption to their daily lives as possible.

Now, more than ever, we cannot do this work alone. Our fundraising efforts must go on in order for us to serve the nearly 50,000 individuals across the state who are affected by autism. Your donation will help us put together the pieces after an especially difficult month.
