Be sure to join us on Christmas Eve at 4 or 6:
December 21, 2016
There will be only ONE Service this Sunday, December 25th.  We will come together to worship as one family at 10:00 am. Please note: There will be no Nursery or Sunday School on Christmas Day. The next Sunday, January 1, 2017, will also be only ONE service with no Sunday School; but we will provide Nursery on New Year's Day.
There are TWO opportunities to join in Christmas reflection, carols, communion and candlelight on Christmas Eve; the first at 4:00 pm and again at 6:00 pm Nursery will be provided for both services. Don't miss this!
Tonight, December 21st at 6:30 pm, we have our THIRD opportunity for joint worship with our friends at Anderson UMC!  They have invited us to their Christmas Musical, "Joy to the World", featuring their Music Ministries, Youth Dance and MIME groups. If you have an hour, come and be blessed!  In 2017, we look forward to deepening our relationship with Anderson by sharing more opportunities for worship and praise, music, mission, and fellowship!
In 2016, our Jubilation Handbells went on the road to give concerts at FOUR different places.  It is such fun to make a joyful noise!  Handbells rehearse on Thursdays at 9:00 am.  But, there are many other opportunities to use your musical talent. If you play a string instrument, join the "Pickers" on Tuesday afternoons at 4:30 pm.  Like children's music?  Help with the Tiny Tones on Wednesday nights, or the elementary age children during Sunday School. We can always find a way to use your voice or instrument as a solo, in an ensemble, or as an accompaniment.
As we pause to celebrate the birth of Jesus, we look back and celebrate the baptism of  FIVE precious children in 2016. We treasure our children and appreciate all the teachers and helpers that lead our little ones.  Is this the year YOU become involved in Children's Ministry?  Contact Cynthia Gibbs for information.
We feed SIX x 10, (60!) East Flora Elementary School students every weekend of the school year through your consistent support of our Back Pack Ministry. We are up to our SIX x 10, (60th!) bed delivered in 2016 through your generosity and the Bunk Bed Ministry's hard work. We sent more than SIX carloads of men's clothes to Grace Place, and we delivered so many suitcases and backpacks for foster children that MS Children's Home Services had to ask us to stop!  Thank you for always showing God's love with action!
Did you know that our beautiful church campus extends hospitality to community groups SEVEN
days a week?  Boy and Girl Scouts, the Madison MOMS Club, Addiction Recovery groups, Survivor and Grief Support groups, Weight Watchers, the Kairos Prison Ministry, and new minister training and support (RIM) to name a few.  Be sure to thank a Trustee for keeping our grounds safe, beautiful and inviting for all of us and for our community as well.
Sunday, January EIGHTH, we will resume our regular worship schedule of 8:30 and 10:45 Worship Services with Sunday School for all ages at 9:45 am.  Adult Choir will begin a new year of rehearsals at 6:00 pm on January EIGHTH - we would love for YOU to join us in 2017. And, plan to join us for Wednesday night dinners and programs which resume January 11th.
We have NINE amazing confirmands studying, questioning, retreating, and meeting with their NINE mentors to explore what it means to be part of the Body of Christ.  Please pray for these young people as they consider making their own decision to follow Jesus!
Through the benevolence of this congregation, TEN  ministries have directly benefitted from our monthly communion offerings and from the giving of our time and talent.  We have supported  Disaster Relief through UMCOR, (including MS Tornedo Relief, Flood Relief, and our Confirmation Class' Flood Bucket mission project), the Back Pack Ministry, the Bunk Bed Ministry, Michelle Shrader's salary support, the MS-Africa University Partnership, Methodist Senior Services, Kairos, Stop Hunger Now, PHUMC's Mission with the Homeless, (through Grace Place in Jackson), and God's Promise to Haiti.
For ELEVEN years in a row, we have supported 22 Honduran school children.  Each scholarship of $120.ºº pays for school supplies, required uniforms, shoes and other necessities for the entire school year. (February through November.)  Saturday night's Christmas Eve Communion Offering will fund these scholarships.  Please give generously.
TWELVE noon on December 30th is the last moment to hand deliver your year-end contributions to the church office and have them credited to your 2016 giving record. (Or, you may mail a check to PHUMC at PO Box 1721, Madison, MS  39130, just be sure it has a postmark of December 31st or earlier.) Thank you for your consistent financial support of our work and ministry.  You can help us finish the year strong!

We are excited to introduce our newest member, Florence CooperFlorence is an O.R. Nurse and Unit Educator at UMMC who enjoys reading and working in her garden when she has time. But her favorite days are those she can spend with her husband, Walter, and their wonderful grandchildren!  Florence is still visiting different Sunday School classes to try and find the right fit - why not invite her to yours?  She is already in our church directory; look her up, introduce yourself, and help her find ways to welcome, grow, serve and celebrate with her new Parkway Hills family!
