Natalie Jones, the economic development project manager for Atlanta Beltline, Inc., was selected for the Atlanta Business Chronicle 40 Under 40 list. George Ray, a partner at Nelson Mullins, was named to the Georgia Trend 40 Under 40 list.

Richard Utz (Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts) contributed a piece titled “The Black Monk in The Name of the Rose” to Poiema. The piece, which was also translated into Portuguese, is about an exceptional presence, a black actor in a feature film situated in the Middle Ages, in the 1980s.

Shatakshee Dhongde (Economics) gave an invited talk on her co-authored paper, "Covid-19 Lockdown and Mortality Among Infants: Evidence From India," at the Darla Moore School of Business, University of South Carolina, Columbia. The paper offers the first survey-based evidence on the unintended consequences of the Covid-19 lockdown on maternal and infant health in a developing country.

Ida Yoshinaga (Literature, Media, and Communication) was an invited speaker at the symposium “Speculative Visions: Science Fiction and American Visual Culture,” where she presented “All Our Futures, All Our Thought Experiments, All Our Kin Relations: Divining the Surprisingly Speculative in Diverse Televisual Forms” in September. The event was co-sponsored by the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art, the Getty, PST Art, and several University of Southern California institutions.
