Beacon News
We have a great trip scheduled for Thursday, October 5th, and we sure hope you'll join us!  We plan to leave from Parkway Hills at 8:30 am, and return by 4:00 pm.
First, we will travel to Alcorn State University. Juliet Huam has arranged for us to tour everything from her test kitchen to the goat center and the muscadine fields!
We will also visit the nearby Windsor Ruins; you can learn some of its interesting history HERE.
Of course, we will take time for a great lunch prepared by the "Chicken-Cookin'- King" Mr. Davis at the Old Country Store. (Maybe he will sing for us, too!)
We need a head count ASAP in order to arrange transportation. (We are looking into chartering a bus so we can all be together, and none of us have to drive!) So, if you even think you might be interested, click here to let Rebecca know by Friday.
The second meeting of this new men's ministry group will be held in Ronnie Musgrove's home at 6:00 pm (new time), on Tuesday, September 26th. (It's always on the 4th Tuesday of the month.) At this next meeting, we will share the tap with Father John Bohn of St. Richard's Catholic Church in Jackson. He will discuss the major aspects of Catholicism and some myths/misconceptions about it as well. Join us for a great discussion!
The second meeting of a 6-week study using the guide "Women Speak of God" will be held in Pastor Dawn's home Monday, September 25th.
It's not too late to jump in! Prepare for Monday's meeting by reading the chapter on "The Maryrdom of Perpetua" found HERE
This Sunday is the second in our series on Koinonia, studying Paul's letter to the Philippians. Read chapter 2 this week and we'll discover together how to build community and establish koinonia as we continue the story of the church.
This Saturday, September 23rd, is the first of Four Quarterly Gatherings designed to help Dawn and Shawn Flowers know their new church family better.  If you joined PHUMC in the last 1 to 5 years, you are invited to this first dinner. Dawn will have a taco bar set up at their home; you bring a side, dessert, or drinks to share. (If you are a visitor, attend whichever gathering is most convenient for you.) Come and go between 6:00 and 10:00 pm.
