Exciting news! A luscious new restaurant has officially opened its doors at House of Rooibos in Clanwilliam. Read more below about the official opening that took place last week.

Last week, local restaurant Thi Art officially opened its doors at House of Rooibos in Clanwilliam. The restaurant has become a firm favourite among locals and visitors to our town and they can now be found in their gorgeous new location at House of Rooibos!

During the restaurant’s launch party, Martin Bergh, Managing Director of Rooibos Limited, mentioned that the company is excited about Thi Art’s tenure at House of Rooibos. This is particularly so because even more visitors will have the opportunity to explore and discover the wide range of Rooibos products available at House of Rooibos when they pop in at Thi Art for a bite to eat.

A new study on Rooibos is being undertaken at UCT. Researchers are trying to determine whether Rooibos can be used to treat Allergic Rhinitis.The researchers recently spoke on Radio 786 where they explained that they are looking for participants to assist them with their investigation.

Participants 18 years and older are invited to take part in a study where they are exposed to house dust mites, a trigger for Allergic Rhinitis, and then to Rooibos in the form of a nasal inhaler.

A recent article in the publication, One India, recommended that those who struggle to sleep at night turn to Rooibos as a possible aid. 

They recommended Rooibos because it is naturally caffeine-free and rich in antioxidants. As such, it helps to reduce stress and promotes relaxation, which is essential for a good night’s rest.

Global Happenings, a publication in the USA, has recently released a list of steps one can take to get back into shape. One of the recommendations is that one needs to drink more Rooibos tea.

What makes Rooibos tea especially good for you is a unique and powerful flavonoid called aspalathin. According to South African researchers, the polyphenols and flavonoids in the plant inhibit adipogenesis – the formation of new fat cells – by as much as 22%. The chemicals also help metabolize fats. Plus, Rooibos is naturally sweet, so you won’t need to add sugar.
