ALUMNI PROFILES
As we celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week at the end of this month, we pause with deep gratitude to honor the extraordinary educators who shape the minds and hearts of Brebeuf Jesuit students every day. At Brebeuf, teaching is more than a profession—it’s a calling rooted in cura personalis, the Jesuit value of caring for the whole person.
| |
This month, we are especially proud to recognize a couple of educators who carry the Brebeuf mission in a truly unique way: our alumni who have returned to teach and serve at their alma mater. These dedicated individuals bring the spirit of Brebeuf full circle, forming students in the same classrooms where they were once formed themselves. Their stories are a powerful reminder of the lifelong impact of a Jesuit education.
Want to thank a Brebeuf Faculty or staff member? Click here to send a note and we will do our best to share your message with them.
To all our faculty and staff—past and present—thank you for being the heart of Brebeuf Jesuit. Your tireless commitment to excellence, compassion, and justice inspires us all.

Peggy Poole '87
Peggy Poole '87 has a deep connection with Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory School, both as a former student and a dedicated faculty member. She fondly recalls her French classes, which were her favorite, sparking a lifelong love for the language and culture. Peggy was greatly inspired by Madame Blanchar, her French teacher, who became a mentor and role model. "Madame Blanchar introduced me to the beauty of French and was always generous with her time," she says.
After Madame Blanchar's retirement, Peggy returned to Brebeuf to take on the role of French teacher, a position she’s held for over 21 years. "I’m fortunate to share my love of French with my students every day. They inspire me just as much as I hope to inspire them."
Brebeuf shaped Peggy by fostering intellectual curiosity, kindness, and the ability to see multiple perspectives—values she carries in her personal and professional life. As a parent of two Brebeuf alumni, Peggy is proud of the lasting impact the school has had on her family. Last summer, she had the chance to participate in an Ignatian Pilgrimage through Spain and Rome, an experience that deepened her connection to the Jesuit tradition.
Her advice to current students? "Step out of your comfort zone and try new things. Whether it’s joining a play, trying a new sport, or talking to someone new, embrace the opportunities that Brebeuf offers, especially the retreats. They’re transformative." Peggy’s journey from student to teacher is a true testament to the lasting influence of a Brebeuf education.

Andrew Hay '16
Andrew Hay '16 has come full circle—returning to the halls of Brebeuf Jesuit not as a student, but as a dedicated educator. Now a member of the Learning Center team, Andrew brings the same spirit of determination he learned as a student-athlete into his work supporting current Braves.
After graduating from Brebeuf, Andrew settled in Carmel, Indiana, where he recently achieved a major milestone—buying his first home last July. While his path has brought him back to Brebeuf, the roots of that journey were planted during his own time here, where he was especially influenced by his favorite class, Speech, and inspired by Volleyball Coach, David Benge. “He taught me a lot about dedication and determination,” Andrew reflects.
Andrew credits Brebeuf not only with shaping his values but also with forging lasting friendships. “I made friendships as a student at Brebeuf that have continued to be great sources of camaraderie,” he says—proof that the community here extends far beyond graduation.
As for his advice to today’s students? It’s simple but sage: “Do your math homework!”
We're proud to celebrate alumni like Andrew who live out the Brebeuf Jesuit mission by giving back, walking with students, and helping to shape the next generation of Braves.
