Congratulations to the Student Winners of the NVIDIA Agents for Impact Hackathon, which took place during the GTC Student Experience in March.
Winning projects included:

- CarbonSense AI – Tackles AI’s environmental footprint with real-time carbon insights. It was built by Rhea Ramalingam, Harshika Vijayabharath, Neha Rao, and Lauren De Guzman.

LoominAi – Transforms how we learn physics through interactive, AI-generated simulations that you can break, adjust, and learn from. This was a solo project by Preet Karia.
- AccessAudit – Advances accessibility by generating ADA compliance reports for urban spaces. This working prototype with real humanitarian applications was created by Jayanth Kalyanam.

Congratulations to the two additional project winners of the AI Development Awards awarded by the College of Health and Human Sciences.

Courtney Boitano (Occupational Therapy) and Jihyun Lee (Kinesiology) received an award for “Nothing About US Without Us: An Interprofessional, Inclusive, Human-Centered AI Pilot.” Discussing their project in a recent CHHS blog post, they said: “We aim to address student preparation & curriculum design by developing scaffolded, interdisciplinary models for AI use that emphasize allied health preprofessionals’ professional reasoning, reflection, and critique rather than AI output generation.” Read more.

Nicole Dubus (Social Work), Sarah Accomazzo (Social Work), and Courtney Boitano (Occupational Therapy) received an award for “Learning Together with AI: An Interprofessional Sandbox.” Discussing their project in a recent CHHS blog post, they said: “By exploring AI simulations programs that are designed to support interprofessional practice and education, we are providing the SJSU community with information on different programs, and examples of how to use these new technologies in best practice.” Read more.

- Share the Student College AI Ambassador Program (paid) opportunity with students | Application Form due by May 30th
The Student College AI Ambassador serves as a student-facing ambassador and collaborator supporting responsible, ethical, and discipline-relevant uses of generative AI in learning. The Ambassador helps bridge institutional AI initiatives with lived student experiences, contributing to AI literacy efforts, peer engagement, and feedback loops that inform faculty and campus leaders. Apply for SJSU Faculty AI Summer Institute (paid) | Applications Due May 20th |
SJSU faculty new to AI are invited to apply to a paid Summer 2026 institute to develop ideas, approaches, and course materials for using AI in teaching. Participants will focus on one course and leave with a policy, an aligned assignment or activity, and clear language for communicating expectations to students. The time commitment is approximately 25 hours. $800 stipend included. Sign up by May 20th.
