Soccer: Unbeaten Page cruises into 3rd consecutive state tournament

FRANKLIN – Powered by an onslaught of goals and rock solid defense, the Page High School girls' soccer team advanced to the Class AA State Tournament for a third season in a row.
The Patriots tallied their 13th shutout of the season Saturday, defending their home field with a 6-0 victory over Hume-Fogg in the Class AA Sectional round. Senior Gracie Segundo and junior Reagan Hamilton each finished with two goals for Page.
The defending state champions will play in Chattanooga next week with a 20-0-2 record going into their first round matchup against Livingston Academy (19-1) on Wednesday.

Charter Senior Living of Franklin hosts ribbon cutting celebrating grand re-opening

Charter Senior Living of Franklin hosted a ribbon cutting celebrating its grand re-opening on Thursday. The independent living, assisted living and memory care facility recently transitioned from serving the community as Morningside of Franklin to Charter.
Residents, staff and Williamson, Inc. chamber members attended the event which featured music, free food and drinks.

Founder of Healing Housing nonprofit starts new business to help clients in variety of ways

A company known as Write a New Story LLC is a new coaching and counseling business founded by Olivia Smith, RN, MCPC personal development coach.
Smith is well known in the community for starting Healing Housing, a partner program for Brentwood United Methodist Church. 
“I work with clients in business as well as the private sector who want to successfully move through transitions either in work or their personal life,” Smith said. “And work with business professionals and individuals in a wide range of issues including strengthening leadership skills, increasing productivity, improving time management, and helping them learn to build effective teams."

Titans sweep Colts for 2nd straight season with 19-10 win

NASHVILLE (AP) — The Tennessee Titans are so banged up that even quarterback Ryan Tannehill now is in a walking boot.
The Titans also have won four straight after an 0-2 start, showing a toughness that could be what matters most in the AFC South they've won each of the past two seasons.
Andrew Adams returned an interception 76 yards for the first pick-6 of his career, and the Titans never trailed in beating the Indianapolis Colts 19-10 Sunday for their second straight sweep of their division rivals.

Football: Nolensville escapes Franklin to remain undefeated

FRANKLIN – Chance Fitzgerald caught nine passes for 156 yards and threw one to Eric Harper that went for 46 yards and another score as the Nolensville High School football team escaped winless Franklin 30-20 to remain undefeated Friday night at Howard Gamble Stadium.
“A win was all we were looking for,” the senior said after helping the Knights to a 9-0 record. “We started a little sluggish after the off-week, but we were able to pick it up in the second half.”

Soccer: BGA eyes 4th straight trip to finals; Nolensville, Indy fall short of state

The Battle Ground Academy girls’ soccer team earned a fourth consecutive Division II-A State Final Four berth on Saturday with a 5-2 win over Evangelical Christian School on Saturday.
The Wildcats, the state champions in 2019 and 2020 and runners-up from last season, will face Boyd Buchanan on Thursday at Baylor in Chattanooga in the state semifinals.

Lawsuit filed by Nolensville commissioner alleges she’s target of ‘false information’

Nolensville Commissioner Lisa Garramone has sued three former Nolensville aldermen for spreading what she argues are false claims about her aimed to influence upcoming election results.
The lawsuit names four defendants: Tommy Dugger, Jason Patrick, Dr. Joe Curtsinger and Bobby Blevins. Dugger, Patrick and Curtsinger were Nolensville aldermen before the municipality reformed itself from a mayor-aldermanic system to a town manager-commissioner system in 2020.

Franklin High Class of 1972 celebrates 50-year reunion

The Franklin High School class of 1972 celebrated 50 years on Sept. 17 with a reunion held at the Williamson County Enrichment Center. Dinner was provided by The Daily Dish, and music from the band Teachers Pet.
Class of '72 graduate Ed Underwood said a good time was had by all.

Early voting underway for state midterms

Early voting for the Nov. 8 Tennessee midterm election began Wednesday and lasts through Nov. 3 in Williamson County.
Voters are tasked with choosing between Republican, Democratic and independent candidates for governor, Tennessee House of Representatives (Districts 5, 7, 61, 63 and 92), two Nolensville commission seats, one Williamson County commission seat, and Fairview mayor.

Obituary

Jack B. Williams, age 88, of Franklin, Tennessee, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2022. Jack was a proud veteran, serving in Marine Corps during the Korean War. He was a member of walker Memorial Baptist Church. Jack was very beloved by his family. 
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Carolyn Williams; wife, Elizabeth Childress Williams; son Bobby Smithson; four brothers.
Jack is survived by his children, Sarah Jean Gunterman (Todd) of Brentwood, Tennessee, Mike Williams (Barbara Jean) of Rockville, Tennessee, Ricky Smithson of Franklin, Tennessee, Jim Smithson (Sylvia) of Arrington, Tennessee, Shirley Warrick (Clifton) of Antioch, Tennessee, Betty Langley (JT) of Franklin.
