Last week, a student asked about how they could make more friends, and Ole Miss came through! Course we did.
Your advice:
“Get as involved as you can! Try to be active in different clubs to get a feel for what you like. Also, talk to those in your class. If they have the same major as you, the chances of you seeing them throughout your college career are high.”
“Put yourself out there and talk to your neighbor in class!”
“Join student organizations!!! Say hi to the people you sit next to in class. Spark a conversation. Join a study group. Go to lunch on campus with new people you meet.”
“A way that I have made new friends is by becoming a part of organizations that involve my passions and like-minded people. For example, I am a Christian who attends a Baptist church, so I have really enjoyed getting involved with Ole Miss Baptist Student Union. There, I have developed friendships with people who have similar interests, values, and goals as me!”
Get out there and make a friend or be a friend! And if you’re looking for student orgs to join, register here for a one-on-one involvement consultation with UM’s Leadership and Engagement ambassadors.
