UW-Madison Division of Extension Dairy Program “Reproduction Roadshow” Meetings

To help Wisconsin Dairy Farmers get the most current and up-to-date research information, the UW-Extension Dairy program has developed the “Reproduction Roadshow.” This roadshow is an update on UW-Madison dairy reproduction research, covering heifer reproduction, sexed semen, the high fertility cycle, and more. The roadshow features Dr. Paul Fricke, Professor and Extension Specialist in Dairy Cattle Reproduction, and Dr. JP Martins, DVM, Ph.D. from the Department of Medical Sciences – School of Veterinary Medicine UW-Madison.

Several office will offer a group ZOOM Training followed by testing on the following dates and locations. Cost is $10.00.

Date: February 15, 2024
Time: 9:00 am; training will last about 3.5 hours. Test will be administered direclty following training.

St. Croix County:
Date: February 27, 2024
Time: 9:00 am; training will last about 3.5 hours. Test will be administered direclty following training.

Wisconsin Beef Cow-Calf for Beginners

Is beef production in your future? Maybe you are new to beef production or perhaps you are a
dairy producer thinking about adding or transitioning to cow-calf production. If so, then join the
University of Wisconsin-Madison Division of Extension Beef Cow-Calf School for Beginners.

Five, FREE,1 ½ hour online classes will be held from 7 – 8.30 pm in 2024 on March 19, 21, 26
and April 2 and 4.

Class sessions will be recorded for you to view in case you miss an evening’s session. Your
registration provides access to recorded videos and other resources. The class schedule is:

March 19 – Business of beef: what are your options?
March 21 – Marketing: begin with the end in mind.
March 26 –Veterinary skills all beginners need.
April 2 – Meeting cow-calf nutritional needs.
April 4 – Herd reproduction to build your future.

A follow-up field day at a beef operation is being planned during 2024. There may be a fee for
the field day.
The school is free, but class size is limited.
