Labour Update: Tentative Agreement Reached (CUPE)
On Sunday, Oct. 6, 2019, a tentative agreement was reached between the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), the Government of Ontario and the Council of Trustees Associations. As a result, CUPE has ended its job action and all schools and centres of the Toronto District School Board (TDSB) were able to open on Monday, Oct. 7, 2019, to all students and staff.
All parties involved will now work to ratify the agreement in the coming days.
At the TDSB, CUPE represents school support staff, such as caretakers, lunchroom supervisors, office/clerical staff and Designated Early Childhood Educators.
