When companies fire auditor, timing is clue of trouble

When a company and its auditor split up, it can be a sign of trouble in the books. Two accounting professors found that the later in the year the break-up occurs, the more worried investors should be. The Wall Street Journal interviewed 
Jeffrey Burks, the Thomas and Therese Grojean Family Associate Professor of Accountancy and the Deloitte Faculty Fellow, about the study he co-authored. (Article)


Christmas joy found in serving others

As the carol suggests, it's the most wonderful time of the year. Sweet gestures of Christmas joy can be found all over campus, whether it's a candy cane offered by a police officer, an ice cream sundae served by the University's executive vice president, or handmade Christmas cards crafted by Arts & Letters staff for those in assisted living.
