Trash Service Delay Week of Labor Day 

This is a reminder from the Ken-Caryl Ranch trash service provider, Waste Connections, that Labor Day is an observed holiday. All trash and recycling service the week of Labor Day will be delayed one day. Waste Connections offers an auto-dial service to notify customers of any delays or changes in trash pickup days. If you are interested in being notified through this service, you can sign up online at www.wcdenver.com/contact/. Complete the required information, click on Residential Trash Service, then in the comment section at the bottom of the page explain that you are a Ken-Caryl resident seeking to sign up for the Call Fire service.

Town Hall Budget Meeting

The Town Hall Budget Meeting of the Ken-Caryl Ranch Master Association and Metropolitan District will be Tuesday, Sept. 2 at 7:30 p.m. at the Community Center in conjunction with the September Joint Study Session. It signifies the beginning of the annual budget preparation process and is the first opportunity for residents to provide input for the 2015 budgets. Residents are encouraged to attend to provide comments to the Boards as they work with staff to develop the 2015 budgets. You can review the 2014 Budgets for both organizations to get an idea of what goes into the plans. Story Time Returning to Ranch House in September; Now on Thursdays

Ken-Caryl Ranch has partnered again with Jefferson County Libraries to offer family fun while sharing our love of children’s literature. Weekly story times will now be offered every Thursday beginning Sept. 4 at 10:15 a.m. at the Ranch House. Join us for stories, finger plays and an introduction to letter sounds. The free story time is for all ages, and no registration is needed.

Boards to Review Draft Prairie Dog Policy

The Prairie Dog Task Force (PDTF) will present its draft Prairie Dog Conservation Policy to the Ken-Caryl Ranch Master Association and Metropolitan District Boards at their Joint Study Session meeting on Sept. 2 at 7:30 p.m. at the Community Center. The community is encouraged to attend. The primary purpose of the PDTF is to develop a conservation policy for Ken-Caryl Ranch Open Space and Parks staff use that recognizes the ecological significance of the black-tailed prairie dog within the prairie ecosystem, while addressing the concerns of private landowners and residents, considering other wildlife species and preserving the conservation values for which open space was established.

Yoga for Beginners, Restorative Yoga and Yoga Nira Offered at Community Center

In Yoga for Beginners (Course No. 29415), learn the essentials from downward facing dog to child’s pose with this five-week workshop on Thursdays, Sept. 18-Oct. 16 from noon-1 p.m. at the Community Center. Restorative Yoga (Course No. 29418) offers a tailored set of relaxing poses, gentle music and guided meditations to rejuvenate both your mind and body. It will be offered Sunday, Sept. 21 from 2-4 p.m. at the Community Center. Yoga Nira (Course No. 29419) is a guided meditation practice to help you deeply relax and is offered Friday, Sept. 19 from 5:45-6:45 p.m. at the Community Center. Sunday Hikes with a Naturalist

Join Environmental Education Specialist Gabrielle Hesselius for easy to moderate FREE family hikes on Sundays throughout the Ken-Caryl Ranch trail system. Each hike will have a topic, but will not limit the discussion on other surroundings. Please wear proper shoes and layers, bring a daypack with water, sunscreen and a snack. These are drop-in hikes, so there's no pre-registration. There's a 15-participant maximum. Residents are free and non-residents are $5 per person. Children 10 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Meet at Dakota Lodge on Aug. 31 at 9 a.m. for a hike along the Bradford Trail. You can see the schedule of future hikes on our KC Nature page.

Community Center Pool Hours

The Bradford and Ranch House Pools are closed for the season. The Community Center Pool will have limited hours Monday-Friday, Aug. 25-29 from 4-7 p.m. and will be open from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. on Saturday, Sunday and Labor Day. It closes for the season Sept. 1 at 7 p.m.
