Pool Reopening Timeline & Updates
We’re excited to share continued progress on the pool area renovation. The lap pool and hot tubs are scheduled to reopen on Wednesday, May 20, followed by the recreation pool and baby pool on Saturday, May 23.
We’re also happy to report that a large portion of our new patio furniture has arrived.
Additional pieces are still on the way, so the pool deck may not be fully furnished when we first reopen. We appreciate your patience as the remaining items arrive.
The East Wing Addition is now expected to open in early June. We are currently awaiting a delayed shipment of windows and doors before that space can be completed and opened for use.
We look forward to welcoming everyone back to the pool soon!

20 MPH for a Safer Community |
As summer approaches and school lets out, our community roads and sidewalks become a little busier with families enjoying the longer days. Children will be out riding bikes, neighbors will be taking evening walks, and more residents will be spending time outdoors throughout the day. As activity around the neighborhood increases, we encourage everyone to slow down and stay alert while driving through the community.
Please remember that the speed limit throughout RVR is 20 mph. A little extra caution can go a long way in helping keep our roads safe for pedestrians, cyclists, and families enjoying the summer season.
Thank you for doing your part to help keep our neighborhood safe, welcoming, and enjoyable for all. Here’s to another wonderful summer in the community!

Join RVR Homeowners for a
Memorial Day Observance |
Join a group of RVR Homeowners in honoring those who served our country at the annual Memorial Day event organized by American Legion Post 100. Veterans will perform a gun salute and cast a wreath at the Veterans Memorial Bridge (entrance bridge into Carbondale on Hwy 133 near the light with Hwy 82) at 10 a.m.
Please arrive early, as Hwy 133 will be temporarily closed for the ceremony.
Bikers will meet at the Ranch House at 9:30 a.m. to ride over to the bridge together. Those who will be driving can park near the bridge, but please avoid 502 Diner, as it's reserved for veterans and their families.
Let’s come together as a community to pay tribute to our heroes!
Click here to read more about the annual event in the Sopris Sun.
Email RVR Homeowner, Laura Hanssen at laura@hanssenonline.com for more information about the meet up.

Featured Photo | Bear Crossing |
Thank you to Emily Johnson for submitting this week’s photo of a young bear crossing through her yard. As a friendly reminder, this is a great time of year to make sure trash, bird seed, and other bear attractants are properly secured, as bears are becoming more active throughout the community.
We’ve also received a recent report of bear sightings along Cedar Creek, so please stay aware and help keep both our neighborhood and local wildlife safe.
Do you have a photo you'd like to you share with the community? Email your submission to Sarah Gager at sarah.gager@rvrma.org

We’re preparing for this summer’s RVRMA Board of Directors election, an important opportunity for our community to come together and help select the leaders who will guide RVR into the future.
Per the RVRMA Bylaws, board members serve three-year terms with no term limits. Each year, a portion of the board positions are up for election. This year, the terms of three dedicated board members will expire:
- Todd Richmon, Co-Treasurer
- Carl Hostetter, Co-Treasurer
- Ben Johnston, Secretary
Interested in serving your community? If you are a homeowner who would like to become more involved and help shape the future of RVR, we encourage you to consider running for a seat on the Board. A Statement of Interest application form will be included in next week’s newsletter. Simply complete and submit the form to declare your intent to run.
Additional details about the election process and important dates will be featured in next week’s mailing

Deer Fencing: Time to Tidy Up! |
Deer Fencing Deadline - Friday, May 15
| It's time to wrap up deer fencing around the community. The deadline for removal is Friday, May 15.
Once your deer fencing is down, please be sure it is tucked out of sight and not visible from the street or neighboring homes. A little extra effort in storage goes a long way toward keeping the neighborhood looking its best.

Thinking About Fire Mitigation? Start Here |
Did you know that small, proactive improvements can make a meaningful difference in reducing wildfire risk around your home?
As part of the ongoing Ranch House renovation project, a few fire-wise updates are already underway, including the removal of multiple evergreen trees and the addition of fine mesh gutter guards and vent screens. These thoughtful upgrades help prevent dry leaves and debris from collecting in gutters and reduce the chance of embers entering vulnerable areas of the home, simple changes that add an extra layer of protection.
| |
For those considering similar improvements, a mesh size of 1/8 or 1/16 inch is recommended to help block embers while still allowing for proper airflow. (One important note: this type of mesh should not be used for dryer vents, which require unrestricted airflow for safe operation.)
The RVR Design Review Committee continues to support homeowners in making fire mitigation improvements. In fact, the Twenty-Second Amendment to the Design Guidelines, adopted last year, was designed to make these kinds of updates even more accessible. Homeowners now have greater flexibility to reduce tree counts, there is an emphasis on thoughtful, qualitative landscaping rather than strict numbers.
If you’ve been thinking about making fire-wise improvements, it’s a great time to get started. Administrative Review Applications are free, and many projects can be approved quickly through this process. Larger or more complex projects may be reviewed by the committee, but either way, we ask that a Home Improvement Application be submitted to get started.
