| Happy New Year from the department of Industrial Engineering at Clemson University!
We hope your holiday season was both restful and rejuvenating. As we look ahead to the coming year, I’d like to take a moment to highlight the accomplishments that made 2025 such a strong and memorable year for Clemson IE.
Our department’s success continues to be fueled by the exceptional work of our 27 research and instructional faculty. Among our research-active colleagues, productivity remained high, with an average of four publications and more than 250 citations per faculty member this past year. For the second consecutive year, Clemson IE exceeded $5 million in research expenditures—a significant achievement, especially given the challenges many across the U.S. have faced in securing and managing federal funding. I deeply appreciate the resilience and commitment our faculty have shown.
There is plenty of excitement around the department right now. The energy and drive from our newest faculty members, coupled with the arrival this month of our new Provost, Dr. Cole Smith—an accomplished industrial engineering scholar and former Dean of Engineering at Syracuse University—bring an added sense of optimism for what lies ahead.
Wishing each of you a prosperous and successful 2026!
