The freezing temps haven’t chilled the activities and achievements of our accomplished St. John’s Law faculty:
Online, On Air, and In Print Professor Renee Nicole Allen was a panelist at a virtual event hosted by Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law on Validity and Equity Problems in Law School Teaching Evaluations. Centered on her scholarship and lived experience, her remarks highlighted the ways intersectional and hierarchal microaggressions present equity issues for Black women. You can view the full event online.
In his recent post at the Volokh Conspiracy blog, "Praying on the 50-Yard Line," Professor Mark Movsesian offers some thoughts on the Establishment Clause issues raised in Kennedy v. Bremerton School District, the upcoming U.S. Supreme Court case involving a high school football coach who wants to pray on the field after games. And in the latest episode of their Legal Spirits podcast, Professor Movsesian and his Center for Law and Religion co-director, Professor Marc DeGirolami, discuss the same SCOTUS case and the possible outcomes for the First Amendment.
"It's a panoramic, endlessly fascinating and eye-opening book, with an arresting fact on every page." Read the latest review of Professor Rosemary Salomone's new book, The Rise of English, in The New York Times. You'll also find her on air at KPCW Public Media, talking about the worldwide spread of English and the research findings that informed the book.
Calling All Readers Join co-hosts Professor Sheldon Evans and Professor Cheryl Wade for the next Black Authors Book Club on Thursday, March 10, 2022. Participants will discuss The City We Became by N.K. Jemisin. All are welcome (even if you haven't read the book). Register today.
