February 2021
Hi, Everyone!
In recognition of Black History Month I've updated and expanded my list of Black Banjo Resources to include more people, more resources, and more bluegrass musicians who play other instruments. There is some really, really good music to be heard and some very interesting and inspiring people to follow, as well as some historical information about the banjo and participation of Black musicians in old-time and bluegrass from the beginning.
It is by no means complete, or definitive. It is a work in progress which I will continue to update and is a good jumping-off point if you're looking for diversity in this music we all love!

2021 Camps
June 4-6 - Virtual Midwest Banjo Camp
I'll be teaching classes all three days over Zoom and leading a jam and doing the instructor concert Friday evening. You can register for the entire thing, or just one or two days. See the schedule here.
June 11-13 - Murphy Method Intermediate Banjo Camp - Winchester, Va.
Masked and distanced, we will be holding this one live and in-person. It is sold out, but I've got a waiting list going and I'd expect at least a little turn-over between now and then.
July 30-August 1 - Murphy Method Women's Banjo Camp - Winchester, Va.
Masked and distanced! It is a truly great experience to play music with other women. The sense of comaraderie is palpable and just playing wtih others is what we are all missing!
November 5-7 - Murphy Method Beginning/Intermediate Banjo Camp - Winchester, Va.
Masked and distanced! This camp is for beginners and lower-intermediate players. It is a great introduction to playing with others if you've not had a chance to do that.
And I probably should just throw in a link to my own website, so if you want to grab some banjo lessons you can!
