Good Evening:
From the Reading Pile: Radio play is crucial in country music. So without a record label, Thompson Square is getting creative.
From the Reading Pile: The changing metrics of local TV buys.

Heartland Media's FOX affiliate/WFFT-TV (Channel 55, Fort Wayne) welcomes Hunter Ptroviak as a new reporter and fill-in anchor. Mr. Petroviak previously worked at Heartland media sister station WTHI-TV (Channel 10, Terre Haute) and for Star City Broadcasting's WPBI/WPBY in Lafayette.

A fire at the transmitter site causes Times Communications' Regional Mexican/WHLY (1580am, South Bend) to go silent and file an STA with the FCC. The Monday May 21 fire damaged the entire transmitter shack, including a Harris SX-1 transmitter. WHLY has used this Filbert Street transmitter and tower site on the northwest side of Mishawaka for roughly 30 years.

Just over the border, BBN, Inc. closes on their $5.099 million purchase of WCPQ-FM (99.9fm, Park Forest, Illinois). The former Polish language format ("Polski Radio") heard on 99.9fm moves to Birach Broadcasting's WMFN (640am, Peotone, Illinois), which is the former allocation licensed to Terre Haute.
Back to the sale for a moment: the seller was WCLR, Inc., and Bob Heymann at Media Services Group served as the exclusive broker for this transaction.
Central
Dispatch Broadcasting's NBC affiliate/WTHR-TV (Channel 13) promotes National Sales Manager Brent Denny to GSM. Before joining WTHR, Mr. Denny was director of regional and national sales across town at WISH-TV (Channel 8) and sister WNDY-TV (Channel 23, Marion).
Southcentral
Last Thursday, Artistic Media Partners closed on their $4.4 million sale of their Bloomington duo of radio stations to Sound Management, LLC: CHR/WBWB (96.7fm, Bloomington) and Country/WHCC (105.1fm, Ellettsville).
Reising Radio Partners' Hot AC/WRZQ-FM (107.3fm, Greensburg) welcomes back Allen Dare to middays. Mr. Dare handled middays there over a decade ago.
