In lieu of awkward silence or conversation, give early joiners something fun or relaxing to do while waiting for your web conferencing meetings to start. Here are some easy ideas: 

• Get a feel for the room with a question. For example, On a scale of cat how are you feeling today?  Or On this scale of Lin-Manuel Miranda, what’s your mood today? 
• Post a coloring page and let folks use the whiteboard tools to color it together. Here are a few  in the public domain that are free to use: Ancient Wasp, Wild Strawberry, Emergency Vehicles.
• Where’s Waldo
• A maze
• A chat question like “What are you grateful for lately?” Or “What’s giving you joy?”
