York County Solid Waste Authority
Our Mission: Facilitate Responsible Solid Waste Management
Thank you, Joe!
Joe Hoheneder, the Authority’s longest serving board member, passed away on Monday, August 5. We thank Joe for his 24 years of service to the citizens of York County. Joe was appointed to the YCSWA Board of Directors in 1995 and held multiple positions over the years. He volunteered countless hours supporting responsible waste management.  A  redbud tree presented by Covanta Energy was recently planted in Joe’s honor on the grounds of the York County Resource Recovery Center.

Hauler Appreciation Day
Nothing says “Thank you!” like a cheesesteak and fries from The SteakOut! We hope the trash haulers who visited us this year on October 3rd for our annual Hauler Appreciation Day event felt appreciated. York County Vice President Commissioner Doug Hoke joined YCSWA’s Assistant Director Jerry Grim and members of YCSWA’s Community Services Division to serve lunch. It was truly a pleasure to show our gratitude to these hard-working men and women.
America Recycles Day
America Recycles Day is November 15th and we will celebrate by offering the “Magic Pots and Recycled Bottles” assemblies again this year to York County elementary schools from Nov. 4th through November 15th. This is a free, educational, interactive puppet show that teaches students the importance of recycling. It is definitely a presentation students remember for years to come.
Chrismas Tree Recycling
Each year, YCSWA holds a Christmas Tree Recycling Program. This event begins December 26th and continues through January 31st. Don't forget to take advantage of this opportunity to dispose of your tree in a responsible way. Visit the link below for more information.
