Students Win $100K at Entrepreneur's Cup

1. Students win big at the 2026 Entrepreneur's Cup

In one of the most competitive contests for student founders in the region, UTulsa students won more than $103,000 in prize money and took first place in both the Undergraduate and Graduate High Growth Divisions. Learn about GreenSense, the winning undergraduate project, and the students behind the product.

2. Research, research, research

Nearly 170 students are participating in the Tulsa Undergraduate Research Challenge (TURC) this summer. TURC is an innovative program that enables undergraduate and high school students to conduct advanced research with the guidance of top UTulsa professors. 3. For one project, three students are working with Professor Jason Rafferty to curate an exhibit of work by Patricia Hollingsworth, founder of University School. It will debut at 101 Archer in March 2027.

4. Does your arm itch? This tiny creature might be the cause.

Here at UTulsa, student research opportunities extend outside the summer months. Assistant Professor Sima Jonusaite studies mosquitos and their ability to adapt to changes in their environment. She says this research could help prevent the spread of mosquito-borne diseases and save lives.

5. Sophomore Jake Henry is bringing his education to the workforce. This summer, he's interning with ONEOK in Tulsa.

A group of students took a field trip to the Tulsa Crime Lab last semester, courtesy of CaneCareers. During their tour, they learned about jobs in forensics, law enforcement and laboratory science.

I can't believe it's already July! This summer, I've been hanging out with my new friend, JT Lawson. He's a professional dog trainer who works with the Savannah Bananas and he's helping me become the best UTulsa ambassador ever.

Right now, JT's teaching me how to be a good listener so that I can make more friends once school starts in August.
