Student Spotlight Jocelyn Swan '19
Loves About Brebeuf I love how many opportunities Brebeuf has to offer to students. Whether it is the exchange programs, retreats, sports, or service trips, there’s always some way to get involved beyond the classroom at Brebeuf.
Future Plans I’m not 100% sure what I want to do, but I think I’m going to pursue a degree in zoology. Right now my top choices for schools are The Ohio State University, Miami of Ohio, and Loyola Marymount. After college, I’m not sure what I’ll end up doing, but I know I want to travel and spend time with wildlife.

Random Facts My eyes can change color. The creator of YouTube lives in my dad’s childhood home. I am named after a road in California. I don’t like French fries or bacon.
Where would you travel if time and money weren’t an issue? Anywhere in Australia. I love how diverse the wildlife is in Australia, and I’m a big fan of Steve Irwin, so I would make sure to go to Australia Zoo. In college I want to study abroad there and then hopefully end up living there. I’m not sure what I want to do but I want to do something with animals and I think Australia has a lot to offer when it comes to wildlife. So far, the best part of being a senior is... I think the best part of being a senior is all of the different options you have in terms of classes. Freshman year is very structured, but once you become an upperclassman you get to have a lot more freedom with what classes you want to take. Also being able to leave campus is a fun time. What is your current favorite show or series on tv, Netflix, etc? I watch more movies than I do TV, but three of my favorite shows are Atypical, Shameless, and The Office. What are some small things that make your day better? There is honestly so many it is hard to choose. I love seeing teachers in the hallway, and they will always say hi and ask how your day is, and I think that those relationships with teachers are unique to Brebeuf. I also love coming home and seeing my dog, because there’s nothing better than coming home after a long day and seeing her. The last thing would be talking to my brother. He graduated last year and goes to school in D.C., so it’s nice to hear about how his day is going and catch up because I won’t get to see him much during the school year.

#BrebeufDrives
#BrebeufDrives will return next week with our first collection! For our fall drive, Brebeuf is partnering with the Newcomer Program. The Newcomer Program is an IPS school serving students that are recent immigrants to the United States. This includes refugees and unaccompanied minors. A focus of the program involves teaching academic English, as well as supporting the students' personal and emotional development. Because so many of the students in the school lack basic necessities, the Newcomer Program relies on community partners to provide families with basic needs such as food and hygiene items. This fall, we will be collecting toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, and soap to donate to the students at Newcomer. Donations can be left in Main Lobby in the collection box through tomorrow, Friday, September 21. Bring 5+ items to Karla Ralls in the Spirit Store, and receive 20% off your next Spirit Store purchase! Exclusions apply.
