Dean Todd Rosenstiel to leave PSU for Georgia State |
After nine years in the Dean’s Office and 18 years at PSU, Todd Rosenstiel will step down as Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS) this spring. He will take on the role of Dean of Arts and Sciences at Georgia State University in Atlanta, starting on May 1. PSU is grateful for Dean Rosenstiel’s many years of service, and his dedication to ensuring a smooth leadership transition. We wish him much success in his new position.
The importance of CLAS to our students and to all of our other schools and colleges cannot be overstated. Provost Shelly Chabon will work with CLAS to carry out a process for determining interim and permanent leadership prior to Dean Rosenstiel’s departure.

New class schedule for Fall 2025 prioritizes community engagement |
Starting in Fall 2025, PSU will implement a new Class Time Grid designed to better support our school community's needs. The development of this new grid involved extensive input from focus groups and survey responses from more than 3,000 students, faculty and staff.
A key feature of the new grid is the introduction of a daily 50-minute midday Community Time, during which no classes will be scheduled. This creates a dedicated space for engagement programming, student group activities, faculty connections and organic interactions across our campus. The Community Time reflects PSU’s commitment to fostering a vibrant, connected community and supporting the well-being of all its members.
The Office of Academic Affairs (OAA) is committed to working closely with key groups and divisions to maximize the potential of this Community Hour for all involved. Additionally, the Registrar’s Office created a Time Grid webpage with details including the grid, guidelines and permissible exceptions.
OAA anticipates these changes will bring meaningful opportunities and benefits to the campus community.

Personnel Activity Report certification required for sponsored projects |
Every six months, salaried employees who are paid to work on PSU sponsored projects must review a Personnel Activity Report (PAR) to verify that the payroll distribution percentages reasonably correspond to the effort performed on the project. These time and effort reports are required to document that sponsored project awards are charged only for time actually worked on allowable cost activities and that the awards pay only their proportionate share of personnel costs.
Sponsored Projects Administration (SPA) is distributing PARs from Jan. 16 - 23 to salaried employees who were paid to work on PSU sponsored projects at any time during the period July - December 2024. PARs are transmitted via AdobeSign with the subject line: Signature requested on Personnel Activity Report(s) for REVIEW/APPROVAL.
If you receive a PAR via email, please review and take action on the request as soon as possible by either signing the document to certify that the payroll distribution percentages reasonably correspond to the effort performed on the project or clicking the link in the email to notify SPA that labor distribution changes are necessary. The due date for certifying the PAR or prompting changes is Wednesday, Feb. 12.
