Parking and Commuter Services is thrilled to announce some exciting changes coming to the North County Transit District (NCTD) Coaster Connection service this June!
Preservation of Service
First and foremost, the Coaster Connection will continue to serve you with the same level of reliability you’ve come to expect. NCTD’s board has authorized a service expansion that will allow them to self-operate the Coaster Connection starting June 10 when MTS service on these routes ends.
Route Consolidation
To streamline operations and improve efficiencies, NCTD is consolidating routes, combining the historic MTS routes 979 and 974 as the new NCTD route 479.
New Health System Stop
We’re excited to share that Route 479 will include a new stop that directly benefits the UC San Diego Health La Jolla campus. This additional stop, near the intersection of Health Sciences Drive and Regents Road, aims to improve accessibility and convenience for those commuting to and from Health System facilities.
We want to express our appreciation to the NCTD board for authorizing the Coaster Connection’s continued service. Additionally, we would like to recognize NCTD’s service planning team for their collaboration and support of the suggested new stop near Regents Road and Health Sciences Drive.
