Hello, Gaucho parents & families!

We wish all the Class of 2025 graduates a wonderful Commencement and final weeks of spring quarter! This month's newsletter includes Commencement and move-out reminders, the announcement of the new University of California President, messages from UCSB alum on what they miss about campus, and more.

This will be our final newsletter for the 2024-25 school year. We will return in early September with information for the start of the new academic year!

Reminders & Announcements

Plan ahead for move-out and review important information on UC Santa Barbara’s Campus Housing website. Encourage your student to reduce waste and donate to GIVE! Donation drop-off sites will be available on campus and in Isla Vista from June 11 to June 20.
The GIVE Sale is an annual tradition in Isla Vista and offers students an opportunity to donate excess belongings while giving back to the community.

Since 1990, GIVE has accepted donations of unwanted and reusable clothing, books, furniture, household furnishings, kitchenware, canned and packaged foods, and miscellaneous items during Isla Vista and UCSB’s annual move-out time in June. The donations are sold at a giant sale and the proceeds benefit organizations and projects that improve the quality of life in Isla Vista. Learn more about the GIVE Sale and find donation locations.
Congratulations to the Class of 2025! We look forward to welcoming the families and friends of UC Santa Barbara's Class of 2025. We encourage guests to visit the Commencement website as a resource for information on parking, clear bag policy, prohibited items, and other pertinent information.

Join us on social media to express congratulations to our Gaucho grads. Whether you're sharing photos, videos, or just saying congrats to a grad - be sure to use the official #UCSB2025 hashtag.

All ceremonies will be presented via YouTube livestream. The livestream starts 15 minutes prior to each ceremony.
Please encourage your student to check their UCSB email. We hope our students enjoy their summer, wherever they may go. Continuing students are encouraged to check their UCSB email inbox periodically. University updates may be delivered via email and we don’t want anyone to miss out on helpful information.

James B. Milliken named 22nd president of the University of California

Currently serving as chancellor of the University of Texas system, Milliken will assume the UC presidency on Aug. 1. Read more about UC’s new president.

Two Big West Gaucho Championships

Spring has sprung and two Big West champions have emerged from within UC Santa Barbara Athletics. The Softball team won their first ever Big West Championship and earned an automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament. The Women's Tennis team also earned the Big West title and an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. Congratulations to both teams! Go Gauchos!!

Bridge to a Brighter Future

Building future careers in STEM, students in the FUERTE program travel to the Eastern Sierra to explore nature, gain field experience and learn from top scientists. Read more about FUERTE in this special multimedia feature.

Resources of the Month: CARE and USS

This month, we’re highlighting the 2024-2025 William J. Villa Award Recipients. Both of these departments were recognized for demonstrating an extraordinary commitment to the general growth and development of students and quality of student life.

Campus Advocacy, Resources & Education (CARE) is UC Santa Barbara’s confidential advocacy and education office for interpersonal violence (sexual violence, relationship violence, and stalking). They offer free and confidential services for students, staff, faculty, alumni, community members, and friends/loved ones impacted by interpersonal and gender-based violence. They also provide violence prevention education for the entire UCSB campus

Undocumented Student Services (USS) provides various programs, services, and resources for undocumented students (with and without DACA) and those from a mixed status family. They work alongside campus partners to increase students' access to equitable educational opportunities to support their academic, professional, and personal growth.
