Three Easter Celebration Worship Services: 6:30, 8:30 and 10:45 am!
                                                                         March 28, 2018
What is Maundy Thursday? Simply an alternate name for Holy Thursday, the first of the three days of solemn remembrance of the events leading up to and immediately following the crucifixion of Jesus. The English word "Maundy" comes from the Latin mandatum, which means commandment. Join us tomorrow evening, Maundy Thursday, at 7:00 pm for a time of worship to remember Jesus gathered at table with his disciples. We will share scripture, reflect through song, partake of Holy Communion, and close with the stripping of the church to signify the day and the death that is to come.

Step away... and step into God's Presence for a time....

This Friday, take advantage of our beautifully wooded campus with a walk through our freshly cleaned-up stations of the cross. (Many thanks to all those who came to last Saturday's clean-up day to help make it ready - the pathway, benches and signage all look GREAT!) The walk will begin and end in the Sanctuary, and there is a guide to follow. A light lunch will be provided at noon - so you may choose to walk before or after we gather at table. Please invite friends - we need to let others know about the wonderful space we have here at Parkway Hills! The Sanctuary will be open on Friday from 10 am until 3 pm - but the walking trail is ALWAYS OPEN.

Living Cross

A treasured tradition at Parkway Hills is decorating the "Living Cross" to grace our sanctuary on Easter Day. Each year it looks totally different - but each year it is stunningly beautiful - and you can help! Contribute some cut flowers or greenery from your yard or the grocery store; you may leave it for us in the church kitchen. Or, even better, meet us in the church kitchen at 10 am on Saturday, March 31st, and stay for a bit to help add some stems to the frame. (No experience necessary!)

Holy Week is Here!

We are making our way to the cross, but we do not come to the cross as those without hope for we know that joy comes in the morning!  I look forward to spending my first Holy Week with my new church family, and I cannot wait to gather with you all Easter Day and rejoice!!  As we move ever closer to our Easter Day celebration, I invite you to find time and space to prepare yourself; heart, mind, and body to celebrate the Risen Christ. As we gather Easter Day, may we all be aware of new faces or faces we haven’t seen in a while. Greet one another, say hello, hold a door, offer a hymnal, point a new family to the nursery and/or children’s bags, say, “We are glad you are here.” May the joy of God’s love be spread through our hospitality.

  I also invite you to join me in prayer. Pray for our church and all those who shall be leading and aiding in worship this week. Pray for the visitors we may have Easter Day. May we be a welcoming and hospitable space and may they experience the joy of the Resurrected Christ as they worship with us. Pray for those who are unable to be present with us Easter Day. May God’s ever-present Spirit give them comfort and joy wherever they may be. May we hold one another in prayer. As you pray and prepare, you may also use the readings below to walk through the story:
  • Holy Thursday: Exodus 12:1-4, 11-14; Psalm 116;
    1 Corinthians 11:23-26; John 13:1-17, 31b-35
  • Good Friday: Isaiah 52:13-53:12; Psalm 22; Hebrews 10:16-25;
    John 18:1-19:42
  • Holy Saturday: Job 14:1-14; Psalm 31; 1 Peter 4:1-8;
    Matthew 27:57-66

      Blessed Holy Week Everyone!
