SPRING 2017 FINAL EXAMS

Spring 2017 final exam schedules have been posted.
Students are asked to double-check the schedule in order to determine whether or not they have a conflict. A conflict is defined as two exams scheduled at the same time or four exams scheduled in one day. Please report any conflicts to the Principal’s Office.
As always, during final exam days, students are required to be present only during the times they have exams. It is always difficult to find alternative times to take final exams and often it has a detrimental effect on a student’s performance on the exam. Therefore, we ask families to please make every effort to schedule around final exams so that all students are present at their assigned exam times.
If you have any questions about finals scheduling please contact Shani Simonson in the Principal’s Office at ssimonson@brebeuf.org.

Pictures of the Week

More Eagle Scouts!
Congratulations to these three Braves who have earned their Eagle!

Brian Hiltunen '18
Brian's service project was to renovate an interior courtyard for middle school students at the Indiana School for the Blind and Visually Impaired. The courtyard received new picnic tables, new and refurbished porch swings, new flower boxes, and a facelift for the basketball court along with new basketballs.  The children live at the school during the week and go home on the weekends. This has created a comfortable and functional place for the kids to gather when they are outside.
Congratulations, Brian!

Hunter Lang '17
Congratulations to Hunter Lang who is officially an Eagle Scout from St. Monica Troop 514.
Hunter’s project involved building a fenced-in and gated outdoor yard for rescued Great Pyrenees at the Bed & Biscuit Kennel where he works. This large yard allows these large dogs to play and get the exercise they need in a safe environment since they do not socialize well with other dogs.

Oscar Logan '17
Oscar attends Troop 276 out of Castleton United Methodist Church. Oscar has been involved in both Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts since 1st grade.
Oscar's Eagle Scout project was to build and install a 40-foot extension boardwalk in the sanctuary at Strawtown Koteewi Park.
Many friends and families, several of them from Brebeuf, helped in so many ways to help complete this project. Oscar would like to thank all who helped him achieve this highest award.
Congratulations, Oscar!

Loves About Brebeuf
I love how Brebeuf is very inclusive and always finds a way to incorporate everyone in some way, shape, or form. I also enjoy the breaks and all of the free-time given to the students because it allows us to decide what we do with our time at school.  Ultimately giving the students a decision of whether they want to use that time wisely and be successful or not.
Favorite Class
My favorite class would either be AP Calculus AB or Physics I.  Those two classes are arguably two of the most difficult classes at Brebeuf however the teachers are always there if you need any help.  As well as many students that take those two classes usually get together and help each other out while working on problems.
Future Plans
I will be attending Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and majoring in Mechanical Engineering. While there I will also join the National Society for Black Engineers (NSBE) and will play baseball.
Teams & Co-Curriculars
Baseball
Football
Minority Engineering Program of Indianapolis (MEPI)
Center for Leadership Development (CLD)
Random Facts
I have been playing baseball since I was three and have not gone a summer without playing.
I can juggle small objects, but only three objects at a time.
I can do one-handed push ups with both my left and right hand.
What has been your favorite Brebeuf experience or most memorable moment so far?
My favorite experience would either have to be going to state with the football team freshman year, beating Zionsville in baseball junior year, or winning Marion County in baseball senior year. The reasons for those three is because I feel like in each of those instances the team or community came together the most and we played our best.
As a senior, what advice do you have for all the new Braves in the Class of 2021?
Enjoy every moment you have at Brebeuf and take advantages of all the opportunities that are going to be presented to you. Also do not procrastinate  talk to your teachers if you have any questions about any subject material.
Aside from playing baseball, any other plans this summer?
Well, every summer since freshman year, I have worked at Keep Indianapolis Beautiful, where we do landscaping tasks and learn about the different types of trees.  I will be working there again this summer, playing baseball, and my family will probably go on a vacation at some point.  Other than that, I will just be resting and getting ready for college.
