Performing Arts is abundant all over campus. RIT's faculty and staff (including those outside of the College of Liberal Arts) have a variety of performing arts interests ranging from bagpipes to bluegrass and stage design to dance. Our mentors are available for you to contact if you have a particular question or if you have an interest in learning more about their performing arts experiences.

Phil Gutierrez
Production and Programming Manager
RIT School of Performing Arts
|
|
|
We are excited to welcome Phil Gutierrez as Production and Programming Manger for RIT's School of Performing Arts.
Phil was most recently the Assistant Director of Production for the New York Philharmonic, managing technical production and concert operations for its season at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, summer Concerts in the Parks tour, theatrical productions, festivals, celebrations, special events and broadcasts, holiday presentations, and film concerts with live orchestra. Most recently, he helped manage the NY Phil’s opening season at the reimagined David Geffen Hall, and produced the NY Phil Bandwagon series of site-specific “pull-up” concerts and community events during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Prior to the Philharmonic, Phil was a production manager at The Juilliard School, his portfolio spanning concert hall events, dance, drama, and voice. He managed schedules, budgets, and personnel in stage operations, scenery, lighting, projections, audio, props, scenic paint, costumes and wardrobe, wigs and make-up. While at Juilliard, he maintained an active freelance production career for clients in opera, dance, concerts, and corporate events.
Phil studied at Fordham University at Lincoln Center (Theatre Design & Production, Focus in Stage Management). He also worked at the NYC Mayor's Office of Film, Theatre and Broadcasting, assisting the “Made in NY” initiative and the Diversity Task Force in Film and Television Production.
A native of Sacramento, California, Phil is a first-generation Filipino-American. In his spare time, he enjoys travel, graphic design, and volunteering with LGBTQ+, community planning, and spirituality organizations.
