It's an Academy tradition that everyone celebrates our seniors with a pot luck reception after our annual graduation ceremonies. If you haven't yet signed up to let us know what you'll bring, please do so HERE today.

Grades 7 & 8: cookies, brownies or finger desserts

Grades 9, 10 & 11: cheese & crackers OR veggies & dip

We expect over 400 people to join us tomorrow and look forward to seeing all of you and our graduates' guests there. Thank you.

Annual Faculty-Senior
Kickball Game

After poetic words of challenge were exchanged at this week's morning meetings between Senior Allen Gabriel and Mr. Isler, the faculty prevailed in the well-fought annual kickball battle between the seniors and faculty on Thursday afternoon.

Academy Parents Council:
Upcoming priorities include:
  • staff and teacher appreciation lunch on 6/14. Please email Kathy Osborne if you can donate food -- to school or to her house in Northampton. Help is also needed on the day of the event.
  • the book sale on 7/13 --(see article below)
  • starting to plan a great night out for the parent community (AKA Cornucopia Auction) on 11/12. Email Phoebe if you want to help with that.
We are also looking for people interested in co-chairing the Council for the upcoming year. Email Katie or Phoebe if you might be willing!
Check out the minutes from the most recent meeting here.

WELCOME TO OUR NEWEST AARDVARK
Dr. Bloomfield and Carla are overjoyed to announce the birth of their son, Henry Borges Bloomfield. He was born on June 5, weighing 2 pounds, 5 ounces, nearly three months earlier than  expected. They say "He is simply the most dear creature we've ever seen, and is already off of all respiratory support. The coming weeks and months will be a new challenge, one that we will face as a family. Thanks to everyone for their love and support."
LAST CALL:
HOSTING OPPORTUNITY FOR SCHOOL YEAR
2016-2017

We are still searching for a host family for Maria, 16, from Italy for next year. We will need to have identified a family for her by the end of next week or we will lose our hold on her application. Maria would love to be with us at The Academy and live in Western Mass. Please give some thought to whether you might be able to help out by hosting her. It enriches the Academy community immensely to have international students with us.
Maria, 16, comes to us through PAX from a small town in Southern Italy. She will be joining the 12th grade in the fall. She loves the idea of living in the US for the academic year and wants to experience first-hand what it's like to be a part of an American family. She loves playing her guitar, is athletic and sociable. She is very close to her Italian family which includes an older brother. She enjoys cooking, drama, acting, movies, hiking, and photography. Maria loves pets and would ideally like to live in an Academy family with at least one child. She would arrive in late August 2016 and stay through mid-June of 2017. While she comes without a family stipend, her school bus transportation (if applicable) and her textbooks will be provided. If you are interested in learning more about hosting, please contact Sabine Mauri. For additional information about Maria, please read her bio and this letter from her.
