About the Program
This training will provide New York State attorneys the foundation needed to screen their clients for past and present military service, basic military cultural competency, and an introduction to benefits that veterans clients may receive. The training will also review the eligibility criteria for some of the most commonly used housing benefits by low-income, disabled, and older veterans and/or their survivors, including HUD-VASH Section 8 and the Supportive Services for Veterans Families (SSVF) program. This training will equip attorneys representing clients with backgrounds in the military or armed forces in housing and other matters to successfully provide service in a culturally competent manner and be better informed about their clients' applicable benefits.
Continuing Legal Education (CLE) Credit:
The Fordham CLE Office will award 1.5 professional practice and 0.5 diversity, inclusion and the elimination of bias CLE credits, per the requirements of the New York State CLE Board, for attendance at this program.
