State Championship Wrestling: Summit sends 7 to Class AA semis; WillCo qualifies 20 overall for today's championship rounds
By Charles Pulliam • Sports Editor
FRANKLIN – Luke Justice has taken on a big leadership role for the Summit High School wrestling team this year as the rugged, veteran senior.
The 195-pounder capped a one-of-a-kind type of confidence-building day for the Spartans during the opening rounds of the TSSAA State Wrestling Championships Thursday at the Williamson County Ag Expo Center. Justice recorded a pin with only 31 seconds remaining in the third period after a big takedown against Maryville’s two-time returning medalist Thomas Stadel.

Welcome to the Williamson Herald’s 7th annual tribute to Black History Month
By Robert Blair
As we embark on the seventh year of producing the Williamson Herald’s annual “Salute to Black History Month” publication, I am excited to explore this year’s topic of conversation — the economic impact of African Americans in Franklin and throughout Williamson County. It’s recognized as being the richest county in Tennessee.
We pondered the thought: Is the Black community actively contributing to the economic impact in Franklin and Williamson County through businesses, home purchases and real estate, investments, providing jobs, creating economic opportunities, and spending dollars in our city and county.

African American church continues to offer spiritual guidance
By Stacey Watson for the Williamson Herald
Each year at the African American Heritage Society’s Black Tie Affair, “Lift Every Voice and Sing” is sung in unison by attendees. Written by James Weldon Johnson, the hymn is often referred to as the Black National Anthem.
“Sing a song full of the faith that the dark past has taught us ... Sing a song full of hope that the present has brought us … “
The music is full of the wonder, beauty and resilience that represents the African American church in America. During the Civil War and Reconstruction Eras, the church created places for formerly enslaved persons to find the freedom to worship in community.

Franklin’s 'Fashion Icon' shares his story
By Coleman Bomar
Locals know him as “The Best Dressed Man in Franklin,” while others call him the city’s own “Fashion Icon.” Few haven’t a clue who he is, but their heads would turn watching artist and fashion designer Isaac Ferguson make Main Street his runway.
Purple scarves, suits splattered green, black hats the length of one’s shoulders, feathers, gold-rimmed monocular sunglasses, long sweaters and a streamlined silhouette are all potential elements of an outfit by Ferguson. His city-wide fame has grown by word of mouth since moving to the area from Atlanta, Georgia, in 2021.
