IMPORTANT INFO
  • IT maintenance September 6–7 will affect email, UO websites, DuckWeb, Duck ID Self-Service, and other services in the early morning and overnight.
  • Fall enrollment for the UO Student Health Benefits Plan is open until October 6 at 5:00 p.m. There is no automatic re-enrollment, so any students who want coverage must actively enroll.
  • Take your class photo and start Week of Welcome off strong with the WOW Kickoff on Friday, September 27 at 7:30 p.m. at Autzen Stadium. 
TALKS AND LECTURES
  • The Diversity STEMposium on September 6 in Columbia 150 will feature lectures from three different scientists on their research and diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Learn about the UO's work with the Alzheimer's Association to create an arts access program and get a tour of their collaborative exhibit at the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art.
  • Sign up now for Sustainable Invention Immersion Week, an interdisipinary entrepreneurial bootcamp that is free and open to all students, September 8–13. 
ARTS AND CULTURE
  • The OUTList is a list of LGBTQ+ Ducks and their allies, published in the Daily Emerald every October to kick off Coming Out Week. Start celebrating LGBTQIA History Month early by signing up to be featured on the OUTList before October 2.
  • Investigate Oregon's ecosystems, see some of mankind's oldest relics, and dive into cultural pre-history, all for free during September's Museum of Natural and Cultural History's Free First Friday event.
  • Connect to fellow Ducks, pad your resume, and make a positive impact on the surounding community with Day of Service on September 20.

FUN FACT
Minoru Yasui '37, JD '39 was a leader in fighting discriminatory laws against Japanese-Americans during World War II. His work led to reparations for people interned in camps during the war and he was posthumously awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2015.
