Dear Faculty, Administrators and Staff,
We are pleased to announce that President Terrence Sawyer, J.D., of Loyola University, will be visiting our South Orange campus next week as the Chair of the forthcoming Middle States site visit. This is a significant event for our institution, and we invite you to join us for a Town Hall with President Sawyer in Bethany Hall, Room A on Thursday, October 19, 2023, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.
In addition, the Pre-Professional Advising Center (PPAC) is our centralized pre-health hub on the South Orange campus. The PPAC provides holistic, student-centered 1:1 advising for scholars exploring, preparing, and applying to health-related professional schools regardless of major. The PPAC recently moved and is now located in Schwartz Hall, Suite 200.
In addition to advising, the PPAC focuses on providing a safe, welcoming, and collaborative space for our pre-health students and organizations. Students have access to MCAT prep books, flashcards, study guides and more. On a weekly basis, the PPAC hosts drop-in office hours, academic study hall (in collaboration with the ARC) and Health Professions Huddles. Weekly huddles focus on building community amongst our pre-health students, providing support, and discussing varying topics prevalent amongst our pre-health students. These are held every Wednesday at 4 p.m. I invite you to explore the PPAC website and view its upcoming events.

Finally, any faculty who would like to participate in Native American Heritage Month are invited to contact Melissa Townsend at Melissa.townsend@shu.edu.

The culmination of the program will be the participants co-leading a workshop for their department on these topics. Each participant will receive a stipend of $1,500 upon completion of the program in May. Applications are due by Monday, November 20. Contact Carolyn Corbran, Director of DSS, with any questions.
