Roos Return

Welcome, UMKC Roos!

Our new academic year officially begins today, with new and returning students on campus and online, ready to begin our fall semester. A tireless team of faculty, staff and students worked hard over the summer to lay the groundwork for a successful academic year so we can forge ahead despite the ongoing pandemic. We are grateful for their dedicated work. Now, it’s up to each one of us.
Although the coronavirus shows no signs of going away soon, we know a lot more about what it takes to stay healthy and keep it from spreading. We also know it takes a concerted effort of each individual to Keep Every Roo Safe. Here are our top responsibilities: wear a mask, wash hands frequently, don’t come to campus if you feel sick, practice physical distancing and avoid large gatherings. We have a complete list of advice, policies and resources. Your classmates, your campus community, your co-workers are counting on you.
Our collective commitment to these important safety steps will determine whether we can continue to have in-person classroom, research, clinical and extracurricular experiences this semester. Let’s show the world that our UMKC family knows how to come back sensibly and strong.

COVID-19 will certainly make this semester like no other before, but with your cooperation and effort, Fall Semester 2020 can be engaging, stimulating, rewarding and safe. This is our defining moment, our chance to demonstrate that our UMKC Roos can keep the pandemic at bay, get back to class and engage in the research and service that our Kansas City counts on.
We are Kansas City’s university. Our community needs us to get this right. And we will deliver.
Roo up!
