It’s hard to remember back to March when everything related to COVID starting taking effect and so much has changed since then. For our Out-of-School-Time Programs team, every moment since has been about adapting, getting creative, and continuing to serve kids in whatever ways possible.
TrueNorth operates Out-of-School-Time Programs at Baldwin, Hart, Hesperia, Muskegon Heights, Three Oaks, Walkerville and White Cloud schools. Each program, in coordination with each District Response Plan, has adjusted their typical program delivery to ensure their students have access to academic support and enrichment activities. For some districts this means 100% virtual programming, for other districts it is “program-in-a-box” activities and for others it’s a combination of both.
Other modified practices include enhanced cleaning and sanitizing procedures, PPE utilization, social distancing, adherence to school district guidelines, and more.
Students and families are appreciative they still have the ability to remain engaged, whether in-person or virtually, and socially connect with program staff and other students. Through it all, one thing has not and will not change: Our commitment to area youth and their safety and success.
