Good Morning:
For those traveling to NAB, safe travels. I will not be there this year.
Let's start this issue with an advertorial.
Until now local news meant compromise: either staff an expensive newsroom or accept a halfhearted effort by someone who just rips and reads. Now technology can help upgrade your station’s news while controlling costs!
Each station has unique needs and now Virtual News Center™ is dedicated to providing unique solutions for your local news.
Why does my station even need local news?
Research shows that the not-so-secret ingredient to radio success is content that is “local, local, local”. However, economic pressures have forced many stations to rely on voice-tracking or syndicated programming. Whether you have a Music Station focusing primarily on morning drive updates, or a News/Talk format requiring round-the-clock updates, compelling local information can be key to keeping your share of audience. Markets with electronic ratings measurement have found that their news and information segments are among the highest rated minutes of the hour. This, in turn, adds value to news sponsorships.
Why should I outsource my station’s news?
For most Music Stations and many News/Talkers, it's hard to justify the cost of even one fulltime news staffer. But when you share the cost with other stations, everybody has better quality at far less expense. Each Virtual News Center™ anchor has years of industry experience and your anchor (or anchors if you like) will be exclusive to your station. Plus they sound like they are part of your staff.
How do you know what’s going on in my market?
Of course, Virtual News Center™ can do the normal beat calls, web site checks, and we get on relevant email and fax distribution lists. With today’s technology your DJ does not have to be in the building, your traffic and billing is somewhere else, and now you can have a larger sounding newsroom and not worry about the challenges of attitude in the hall and other issues that go along with a hire.
What about Extra Services?
Additional service depends totally on your needs. For some stations, basic news anchoring is enough. Some stations require local weather, or local sports. Entertainment news or local business news are also content options.
It sounds too good to be true.
As the saying goes, you can tell a lot about any organization by the companies it keeps. At Virtual News Center™, we’re proud of our lineup of over 185 stations, and our outstanding renewal rate. If you’d like to talk with one of our client stations, we’ll be happy to put you in touch.
How can I find out more?
Contact Joel Dearing at 877-470-6397 to learn how Virtual News Center™ can become a virtual success for you!
