A New Chapter Begins

For over half a century, FISH has been a cornerstone of support for Sonoma Valley, offering essential services to neighbors in need with compassion and dedication. As we mark our 55th anniversary, we reflect on the many lives touched and the unwavering commitment that has defined FISH's legacy. This milestone is not only a celebration of our past but a promise of continued service and innovation in the years ahead.

We are thrilled to announce a significant development — FISH has acquired a new building adjacent to FISH Central. This purchase is a testament to the growth and expansion in our services and our ability to adapt to the evolving needs of Sonoma Valley. The new facility will undergo renovations to include office space and storage areas, designed to enhance our operations and expand our capacity to serve the community.

These improvements will allow us to streamline clothing distribution, increase storage efficiency, and provide a safer, more welcoming environment for both clients and volunteers. The proximity of the new building to FISH Central ensures seamless continuity of our services and strengthens our presence in the heart of Sonoma Valley.

This milestone would not have been possible without the generosity and vision of several key governing Board Members, volunteers and supporters. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all  whose support made the purchase and renovation of the new building a reality. Their dedication to FISH’s mission exemplifies the spirit of community, collaboration, and compassion that drives our organization forward. 

The renovation plans include modernizing the interior spaces, upgrading accessibility features, relocating our rental office and constructing areas for storage.  These efforts will not only improve operational efficiency but also ensure that FISH remains a welcoming and safe haven for all who seek assistance. New technology and layout adjustments will help us respond more quickly to urgent needs and coordinate services more effectively.

We are also excited to preserve and highlight the color scheme that adorns the FISH Central building and makes us recognizable. Our new building is already "true blue"! Photos documenting the progress will be shared with the community on social media as the project advances.

Throughout the renovation and construction period, FISH is committed to uninterrupted service. Our volunteers and staff have developed a robust plan to ensure that our food pantry, emergency assistance, and other essential programs remain fully operational. We understand that our neighbors depend on us, and we will continue to meet their needs with the same compassion and reliability that have defined FISH for 55 years.

FISH’s impact is best illustrated through the stories of those we serve. Recently, a family struggling with a significant cut in job hours visited FISH seeking help. They received groceries, emergency financial assistance for rent, and guidance for additional resources.  The relieved parents indicated that FISH gave them hope when they felt desperate. The kindness and support from FISH helped them manage their family’s crisis.  Stories like this inspire us and remind us why our mission matters.
