Next Administrative Briefing is Wednesday, April 9 |
The final Administrative Briefing of the 2024-2025 academic year will cover topics including updates on federal actions affecting higher education, immigration rights and PSU’s legislative priorities, as well as a preview of the 2025 Summer Session and an opportunity for Q&A. As always, the event will be held in a hybrid format with the in-person part of the briefing at ASRC 515 with themed refreshments. The final agenda will be shared next week.

Federal Actions update: Financial aid FAQ |
Portland State University has a team of administrators keeping a close eye on federal actions that impact higher education and frequently updating the Federal Actions webpage with details about how any changes may impact the PSU community.
New on the page: Student Finance has developed an FAQ about whether any federal actions are impacting student financial aid.

PSU & AAUP reach tentative contract agreement |
As announced in a joint statement over Spring Break, PSU and the PSU chapter of the American Association of University Professors (PSU-AAUP) reached a tentative agreement on a new contract. The agreement is subject to ratification by PSU-AAUP members.

PDXScholar’s growth and impact in review |
The PSU Library is excited to share the 2022-2024 PDXScholar Multi-Year Annual Report. This report provides a comprehensive overview of the growth and impact of PDXScholar, PSU’s institutional repository, from January 2022 through December 2024. The report highlights readership data, new content and collections added during this period, as well as valuable feedback from PDXScholar users around the world. The report also features updates from Special Collections & University Archives and the PDXOpen mini-grant program.

Reminder: Submit spring contracts ASAP |
As the Spring term begins, all hiring managers are reminded to submit their EPAFs and Spring contracts as soon as possible. EPAFs and Letters of Offer route to multiple approvers, so managers, please be sure to check your queues and approve them promptly.
For detailed instructions on how to access and approve EPAFs, please visit the Graduate Assistants page of the Human Resources User Guide. To upload a signed letter of offer, please use the ‘Upload Documents’ button on the main HR webpage. Thank you for your timely attention to this matter!

The Education Abroad office is now accepting Faculty-Led program proposals for the 2026 calendar year; this includes Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall of 2026. The priority proposal deadline is May 15. This is open to all faculty, adjuncts and teaching staff.

Wayfinding & advising: Extra help is available this week

Undergraduate advising drop-ins are available Monday and Tuesday of this week from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. at various locations, depending on the student pathway. Please direct students to the Drop-In Advising Schedule for pathway locations.
Know of any students who need help finding their way around campus? Student Success teams will be at the FMH Info Desk and outside Cramer Hall from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday.

Commencement deadlines for graduate students, speakers |
Graduate students planning to participate in commencement ceremonies must apply for a degree or a certificate online by Friday, April 4. Graduate Application Form

PSU faculty are invited to join the University Band! Open to all woodwind, brass, and percussion players, regardless of skill level. Weight training for women class begins April 16 |
Join Campus Rec personal trainers for a four-week small group course to learn how to use and progress on machines and equipment for a full-body workout. Focused on proper form, resistance training principles, and women-specific training, this course will help you feel more comfortable and confident in the weight room. Sessions run Wednesdays, April 16–May 7. Registration opens today at 8 a.m. $20 for Campus Rec members.
