Rep Larson is spearheading a Congressional sign-on letter to CMS urging that they use their administrative authority to exempt CRT manual accessories from Competitive Bid-derived pricing. The deadline for House members to sign on to the letter is CoB tomorrow, so please reach out to your Representative as soon as possible.

It would be extremely helpful to get as many requests from constituents as possible, so please take a few minutes to complete this action. Here are the steps to follow:

Visit this link to enter your home address information and locate your Rep
Find your Rep’s name on this “House Health Staff” excel file
Create an email to the person listed on the "House Health Staff” excel file as “Staff” (in Columns F through I)
Use the below sample wording as the body of your email, modify to include the name of the House Health Staff member and Rep in the highlighted spots
Send with that email, this document titled “House Request for Signatures for CRT Wheelchair Letter to CMS”

SAMPLE EMAIL BODY WORDING:

Dear (name of Staff Member),

I am emailing to request that Representative (name of Representative) join the Congressional sign-on letter protecting access to manual Complex Rehab Technology (CRT) wheelchair accessories. The letter, which is being circulated by Rep. John Larson and is attached to this email, asks CMS to take action to ensure that manual CRT wheelchair users have the same level of access as power CRT users.

Congress passed legislation in December 2019 to make clear that manual CRT accessories should be exempt for competitive bidding-derived pricing – just as power CRT accessories are – and to give CMS time to address the issue. Those measures expire on June 30, so we need quick action from CMS.

Please contact Erin Doss with Rep. Larson’s office at Erin.Doss@mail.house.gov to be added to the letter by Friday, June 18. Rep. Larson’s request is copied below.
