Veterans Memorial Garden Honors NC State Alums’ Sacrifices

On Monday, Nov. 11, NC State celebrated Veteran’s Day by dedicating its new Veterans Memorial Garden, a space that serves to honor and recognize NC State affiliated veterans who made the ultimate sacrifice in military service to the United States. Located on the Court of North Carolina, this space includes seals for all branches of the United States Armed Forces, and a QR code linking to NC State’s scroll of honor.

The Council on the Status of Women’s next Wellness in the Workplace event “Optimal Office Ergonomics” is Dec. 3 in Talley Student Union room 3285 from 12-1 p.m. The Ergonomics Center will provide information on how to set up your workstation in order to optimize your comfort and productivity.

  • The next DASA co-working session is today from 1-5 p.m. in Talley Student Union room 3222.
  • Before NC State faces UNC on the football field, we’re teaming up for an important cause: addressing food insecurity. The fourth annual Pantry Bowl, a friendly competition to rally support for our campus food pantries, takes place Nov. 24 through Dec. 1. Last year, the Pack showed up and led the way to our second straight bowl win with 1,634 gifts. Join us again this year to support Feed the Pack and our campus community.
  • Wake Me When It’s Time,” is a one-act play presented in partnership with University Theatre, Arts NC State and Biological Sciences students, enrolled in LSC 170 Seminar: “Theatre of Science Fiction and Science Fact,” and scheduled for Nov. 19 from 7:30-9 p.m. in Frank Thompson Hall.
  • Join the African American Cultural Center for a Kwanzaa Celebration on Nov. 22.
  • This week, the Pride Center is hosting several events for Trans Awareness week to bring attention to the experiences of the transgender, nonbinary and gender non-conforming communities.
  • The Fall 2024 Multicultural Graduation Celebration is set for Dec. 12 in Witherspoon Student Center.
  • The 2024 Open Doors report, commissioned by the U.S. Department of State and compiled by the Institute of International Education, documents NC State student participation in global education and exchange.


Reminders

  • Chancellor Randy Woodson’s Holiday Open House is set for Dec. 6. All NC State employees are invited to a reception with festive holiday food at the chancellor’s residence.
  • The annual Wolfpack Winter Clothing Drive is now open. Donations for students and staff in need will be accepted at various drop-off locations around campus through Jan. 27, 2025.
  • The 2025 edition of Make-A-Thon, NC State’s annual sustainability innovation challenge for students, will be held Jan. 23-26, and judges and mentors are needed. By investing as little as two hours at Make-A-Thon, you can help create a powerful learning experience for NC State students.
  • Flu vaccinations are available for students, faculty and staff on campus via appointments and walk-in clinics! COVID-19 vaccinations are available by appointment.
  • The NC State Office of Undergraduate Courses, Curricula and Academic Standards will hold office hours every Friday for the rest of the school year at 10 a.m.
  • Counseling and Prevention Services will hold three Opioid Overdose Prevention, Education, and Naloxone Training sessions over the rest of this semester.
  • The NC State Council on the Status of Women is launching a call for community vignettes from students, staff, faculty and alums for presentation at the 2025 Sisterhood Dinner on Feb. 24, 2025. Priority submissions close on Nov. 22. More information is available at go.ncsu.edu/sisterhood.
